i was making some empty Venom vials tonight. i ran out of blowpipes. i ran over to Royal city to get some cause i didnt want to take mule to ish. I went the alchemist and i was like WTH they dont sell the book on mining sand, book on glassblowing or the blowpipes.

Why?? The NPC are gargoyles. So why dont they have glassblowing stuff. i guess to make go to the other Gargoyle city.

  2. Maybe someone had already bought them and they hadn't respawned?

And the garg city in ish don't sell mystism regs.

Could be an oversight or could be intentional due to different cultural developments on different facets.

After all, the Mayans did not develop many things that were used on the European continent, like the wheel, horse riding and metal tools etc.

The ish gargs might have developed sand and stone mining techniques that can be taught in books. Possibly due to having brethens that have been enslaved before.

The Ter Mu gargs developed throwing, imbuing and mystism instead.

The wild gargs in britannia had no cities to call their own and turned feral, attacking everyone.

And Britainnians have never discovered how to harvest tribal berries unlike the ish savages. So instead, we storm in, murder them, and loot those berries from their cold, hard corpses :p

if you find one of those crystal portals you can tell it to take you to the city in ilsh.. no need to run all the way there.

Which bring up a minor gripe of mine. The crystal portals are convenience items, obtainable after 10 months (10 +2 free) of UO patronage. They're especially useful if you plan to go dumpster diving, i.e. hunt vendors in remote areas for non-critical stuff, because you don't need to carry runes for the gates or the cities.

In all honesty, if you want to set up a vendor mall or 'home of interest' away from population centers, nothing will facilitate traffic more than setting up one of these crystal portals on your front steps. The key is to remember to set permissions for *everyone*. I don't know how many random homes I've walked in to (with my non-mage/chiv chars) and I try to use their crystal portal after a long journey only to be denied - because the owner forgot to set permissions.

Just because they get set out in the open doesn't mean they're for public use.
