I mean... Not even its own news article on the UO website. Come on.
Yes the old UO "soon". I wouldn't hold my breath
I would say at least late august/september but thats my best guess
The new expansion is still in it's infancy...they just announced it...and considering the fact that only 4 people are working on it AND everything going on currently...I wouldn't hold my breath.
It will be out soon! Err, 2016, 2017 at the latest. Not later than 2018, we promise. Unless we have to work out any bugs.
They didn't mention any dates or a time frame. Is it almost done? Is it still an idea with a brainstorm on a whiteboard? Is it almost completed?
Is it white and gold or is it black and blue?
Hint hint....it will include 2020's new vet rewards. LOL
Are we there yet!? Are we there yet!?
Yea! Months of reading posts about speculations, complaints and ultimately disappointments. Woohoo!
Yeah it would just be nice to know something.
They've been hinting at a pet revamp for what, over a year now? Longer? But when pressed at a dev meet about whether it was in concept or development, the answer was 'in concept'. I can only hope this expansion talk will not prove comparable.
A whole expansion for a team this small has got to be pretty daunting. A small teaser each week would be nice, something to keep us interested and engaged while we wait as it will almost certainly be a goodly while. And, you know, some kind of rough time frame.
I wish I had the eloquence to clearly express what I think about the idea of the small dev team we apparently currently have focusing so much of their time on putting out an expansion and what I think of the prospect of the expansion being used as an excuse for not getting much other work done on UO until the expansion is actually made live. I'd feel a whole lot better about paying a monthly subscription fee for multiple subscriptions between now and then if someone like Rob Denton, the head of the studio, would make an announcement telling us that there are actually more resources than we have been made aware of up until now actually working on UO and that we are in good, capable hands and that shelling out even more money to pay for an expansion will be money well spent. As it is now, it's very hard for me to not view the announcement as just another excuse to keep putting out lackluster publishes from now until two or three years down the road. We were told over a year ago when Broadsword took over that more resources would be available for UO and I feel at this point that was just a big fat lie. I really would like the person running the show at Broadsword to step up and talk to us instead of hiding behind Mesanna. He hasn't made EVEN ONE announcement with regard to UO. Not even one.
I would really like to see him give us the straight story for once and make us believe that it's worth sticking it out a little longer with UO. Give us some kind of proof that saying UO will be ready for Steam by the end of the year and there's an expansion in the works isn't just another big stalling technique like the announcements that were made at the 15th anniversary party. I really need to see someone else than the same people we have been seeing for the last couple of years who is willing to put their credibility and reputation on the line for UO.
Aye that is worthy of a "LOL" also to be honest. What about the removal of checks, safer way to trade, getting ready for steam, updating player guides, new player experience etc etc. The list is pretty dam long. They have a lot on their plate to do with UO and now they have gone and teased this new expansion adding more to the list.
They also have to work on DAoC while working on UO so I don't expect it any time soon.
However, its good to know they at least still think about UO!
LOL. Remember they were making KR, and everyone was excited...two years went by, and they had a town hall where Jeremy had a big announcement to make, and it turn out that it was We are working on KR! lol
And according to some beta testers, what was released was nothing like what they tested, except the same bugs were released...
They shouldn't have said anything, should have waited till it was done. People going to go crazy all summer.
Some of us enjoy the craziness.
Hahaha.....forgot all about Jeremy.
I miss Binky
Also, pretty much a guarantee of no major content additions till the expansion is released which has to to be at least late this year if not later. :/
Just cool your jets and wait patiently... JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
They shouldn't have announced anything. All the ornery UO seniors of Stratics are going to be up in arms about it until it comes out.
If they hadn't, everyone would be up in arms that there were no updates, no news, no communication from the team, no nothing.
This was clearly a case of dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
I do hope they manage to hire a new software engineer, though. I can't see Bleak developing all this by himself. There are just not enough hours in a day for that.
I've kinda got used to this already! I bet we don't get another update for a good few months.
They did this, sort of, for the last anniversary "celebration." It didn't exactly go well. In fact, most players were rather disgusted by plot and dialogue and the fact that the devs involved couldn't be bothered to stay in character for 10 minutes. The was a transcript and supposedly a video of it, but the search feature can't seem to locate either...
Edit: found the video -
OMG! That's completely unwatchable. It is a cacophony of footsteps driving me crazy...
I was there. It was...indescribably odd. And boring. "Minax" using ROFL was COMPLETELY out of place - the only fun part was when they summoned the Clockwork Exodus & everyone (who wasn't on a mage) killed it.
Most of the time UO boss fights are boring anyway. Uusally it is just burning down a massive amount of HPs of the boss and trying to not get one- or two-shotted by the boss...
Is it just me or do the devs look burned out in the video.
I've worked at a place where people quit or got fired and you were asked to cover their job till they hire someone new. Months go by and no one new shows up. Projects pile up and you have to pick and choose which is more important. Then you get a new boss and he tells you to stop what your doing and work on what he thinks is more important.
That's the feel I got out watching the video about the new expansion.
Yep, just you...la
