Why aren't artifacts (Non glasses) able to be altered?

This is actually starting to bug me and I would like to know what people think.

Why can't we alter certain artifacts that fall into a category of alterable items? Take for instance the Heart of the Lion, Platemail Chest Piece <- Alterable, but the Heart of the lion is not.

I don't see why we said yes to glasses/sashes/aprons, added in the ability to alter existing items such as platemail from human to gargoyle, but then decided that other artifacts can't be altered.

    What do you guys think?

Was not aware of the heart of the lion not being alterable. I was under the impression that only items that do not have a gargoyle counter part could not be altered (studded armor has no studded gargoyle armor) Perhaps it has something to do with the way the specific item is coded. Such as to say...Heart of the Lion is actually studded armor with the Platemail chest art work. But I think it is annoying for any item to "not" be alterable, especially since they said they were working on more items being alterable, and that was at SA launch?

The developers probably forgot about it and it is not high on the buglist is all.
Send in bug reports or try to get an answer from a developer in their next meeting?

Way back during SA testing you could alter anything....

Then they turned it off.... not sure why they have something against Gargoyles wearing human stuff.

Well to be fair it works both ways... there is a host of garg only artifacts humans can't use.

Yes, but anything that can be converted one way should go back. And like the OP said, platemail chests can be converted, why cant HOTL, thats really all it is with arty stats.

Oh I agree whole heartedly. I've said this many, many times. Infact..... we should be able to take say.... the Hunters Headress... and make it a skullcap or a circlet..... so long as it holds the same properties.

I suggested that we should be able to say do a quest... In say.... Ter Mur..... for some crafter there.... and hand him items he desires and maybe a good bit of gold too (nice gold sink idea here).... and he would "Alter" our item.... Like you hand him the item you want "Altered" And he says...... "Yes I can alter this for you.... but I need x,y, and z.".. so you get x,y and z and you bring an item you want the item "copied" to..... much like copying a book. So he takes the hunters and the items plus you give him a skullcap(the stats on this don't matter as they will be erased in the process NOT combined)..... and he gives you back the skullcap and now it has all the same exact stats as the hunters you gave him. I think it would be fairly easy to code.

    +1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For years I've wanted to wear full platemails on my warriors, but I had to stick with LEATHERS or those arties!!! It is all about the look!

Would be nice to streamline a suit to one armor type for looks. Just have to regulate the med / no med factor. Adding mage armor would just get abused by unravelers.

On the Garg altering. I like the fact that the armor altering limitations keeps gargoyles from wearing the same latest and greatest suit combination.

The sad thing is the new garg stone armor and weapons. Compared to the elf wood armor they really got lazy with mason made armor. They should of had new set of mods like wood armor has for a race really limited on past arty availability. Like 6 mod armor made from valorite granite that wearing any of it takes away flying option from gargoyles.

True, but as I play both humans and gargs, it's my experience that for every one garg-only item I wish had a human-usable version, there are probably 10 human/elf items that I wish my garg can use.

Many of the new gargish arties have garbage like -40% DI, -15% DCI and stuff like that. And there are no gargish -0 Mage Weapons (and the only -10 gargish mage wep I know has that lousy -40% DI property on it). Frankly I don't think the devs have given enough motivation to get players to run gargish characters with the possible exception of ONE for imbuing.

    1. I don't like being limited to altered glasses. There should be gargoyle artifacts comparable to the hat of the magi and the spirit of the totem. Properties that cannot be imbued on ear rings.

    2. Back to glasses again - Who has the time to make 50,000 individual unstackable items to turn in the the brit library?

Funny thing is some the smith made items taken for points. Why make them? Can sell the ingots to make two items to the NPC and buy three of the item you would of made with the gold. Goes the same for the elf city smith quest. Better off selling the ingots and using the gold to buy the broad sword.
