I'm curious as to why EM events of such large scale are held during weekends. I assume that most players in UO are teens and young adults, though most forum posters are likely older folks.

This means that the majority of players, younger folks are probably not present for these events. There are few, if any, pvpers that are not in their teens or 20s but we see an event in fel when these people are not online.

Does this make any sense? I'm not saying events CAN'T be on weekends but it seems like you'd put an event of importance when people can attend them. Instead we see major faction events when only one zerg guild on each shard can muster even a handful of players to attend it. It's downright silly to host events when the player base is not going to attend them.

Players, especially those in their teens and twenties will not cancel plans involving real human interaction at parties, dates, get togethers and more to go play UO. I mean seriously, UO vs Your best friends or your girlfriend. UO should and seemingly does lose everytime.

So why are we seeing events when nobody is on?

It's a matter of choice. Besides, there was 50-60 ppl on Europa at the Crimsons vs. Platinums fight.

Explain then, why do every event I attend on weekends is packed with people? Did you just make up this random claim that UO audience is not available on weekends? Have you considered that perhaps EA has access to activity statistics which would give them a more detailed picture of user activity?

Shards that show less than 10 players are probably something like Lake Austin, not exactly known for its tremendous population. I can show you pictures from Atlantic or Great Lakes, if you wish.

    Dear Curious,
Because they are made for folks who have no real life interaction options - silly.

    just kidding ....
    sortah ...
    *sigh*

maybe they should run them during the week at 3:30 ET --- oh wait, football & soccer practice, bad for west coast....

maybe 7 pm ET during the week --- screw homework and dinner with the family & possible evening stuff with friends - oh wait - that's not good...

maybe 6 am ET before school --- hum that'd be tough on the west coast players...

maybe 8 am ET on the weekend -- oh wait that was tried & it was not a good time either...

    maybe go play Simms :dunce:

why event at weekend, why event during week, why events in the morning, why events in the evening, why events at all?

they should stop doing events, maybe then it is better

do you really believe people have more time during week than at weekend?
the best time to do it is 20 pm at saturday and the second best is 20 pm at sunday

and do you really expect that there is a time all people who wants to do an event could participate? there will always be people who cant join an event becasue of this and that

stop complaining about every tiny sh_it!

It would seem to me that the most people would be available on the weekend. This is born out by the times I've been able to attend and the large numbers of people attending.

As for young people being too busy to attend on the weekend and older people having time, LOL !!!!

I'm far from being young and I have a difficult time making it on the weekend. We have family night on Friday's , that's when the kids and grandkids come for dinner. It seems that most events on Napa are on Friday evening, but I won't give up my Friday's with my grandkids for anything! This Friday I was able to attend what I thought would be the start of the event, because the last of the kids and grandkids left 15 minutes before the call to arms by Dawn. Upon arriving I discoved that was just to announce the meeting times and location for Saturday and Sunday. ::shrug:: That's the way it happens sometimes ;)

This week we had the first event Saturday evening, but I had promised my wife that I'd take her to the casino so there went Saturday! Now the closing event will be tonight (Sunday), however we gave a wedding to attend for a young girl that grew up with our daughter and still calls me her second dad. Needless to say I won't be able to attend that either!

I'm not upset about not being able to participate in these events. The times they scheduled them make the most sense for the largest number of people, I just happen to have too much going on in my life right now to participate. That's no one's fault and real life should always take preference over a game, even such an emersing game as UO.

Anyway I think the EM's are doing a great job even tho I personally have seen very little of it ! LOL !!

    Just one man's opinion ;)

right.. cause a shard splitting event is all about encore replays..

till.. well till you start pancakes that you're sick of the {insert event name} going on and on and can the dev's pull their heads out and shut it off?

...Or that you want to dig up some T-maps on Fire Island and those damn Shadowlords keep rez killing you and you're sick of it and it's unfair...

...Or that you just placed a house where the very next day the volcano sprung up and now you can't access that bag of raw ore on your front steps.....

...Or you start complaining cause the 15 people it takes to drop a Shadowlord are hard to muster cause the shards are so lowly populated and hey.. let's combine shards anyway...

...Or that you know you parked your boat off Fire Island somewhere and now you can't find it and it was a very special boat with 125 white pearls in the hatch and it's so unfair....

... stop the bitchin' peeps.. sorry you can't make this event.. maybe next time!

Most of those are completely unrelated to replaying events.

There are a lot of people who work or attend school during the week and have more free time on weekends. I think the events this past weekend were probably not a good time because of the Labor Day weekend and people had other plans. Other than that, I think the events are scheduled at a good time. I've never had anything in UO keep me from going out with friends, etc.

United We Fight - UO's largest guild - is comprised of almost exclusively adult members. We all work during the week. Weekend events work much better for us.

Keep the weekend events coming.

Preemptive disclaimer: I said UWF is the largest, not the greatest. I'm partial to UWF - I think we're a great bunch - but I know we're not everyone's cup of tea. Just trying to use as an example of demographics, not as an ad. :p

You might also consider that on the weekend the main frames are only running shard support programs and during the week more programs are running at the same time. Weekends give them more couputer space to run the lerge events like these without interfering with people doing other stuff on the shard. Cuts down on the computer lag when fewer programs are running on the main frame couputer.

You'd be wrong. I'm willing to bet the prime UO demographic is closer to 25-34 than it is 18-24.

The clainin event was another event held in fel when few if any pvpers play UO due to the timing of the event. It seems like maybe EA should pay more attention to when they host events in fel as it is very likely that pvpers and pvmers have different peak play times....

I'd agree, most I'd wager are older, and that kid in the game who annoys you by spamming he 'owns' or 'rocks'...? He is not 12, but more likely 42.

Aside from the fact that most players work during the week, our EMs also work during the week. One of Atlantic's EMs actually took off time from work in their frenzy to get everything ready for this past weekend's events.
