Why not 800? Why do you cling to 700?

    Why not 800? Why do you cling to 700?

    Because of current nerf of Sampire, dexxor was nerfed very much.
    I will never complain about many nerfs to dexxor up to now.
    But it is the fact that dexxor was very nerfed because of nerf of Sampire.
    So, why not 800? Why do devs cling to 700?
    The max amount of skill is now 700(or 720).
    Up to now, UO has had many new skills. And UO will have many new skills in the future.
    With an increase of new skills, why don't devs increase the max amount of skill from 700?
    Does they want characters not to be "overpowered"?
    Does they want characters to be "proper-powered"?
    What is proper?
    Nothing is proper.
    So, I suggest.

    Characters have 800 max amount of skill only in the Trammel rule facets.

    At least, PvM doesn't hurt PvP by this.

    Consider the damage adding another 100 skill points to the game? Firstly, The scribe mage template.. working with the current skills, you'd be look at wat 120 mage eval resist weap skill 90 tact gm scribe 50 med, that its already a well put together template which can cause considerable damage.. now add 80 poisining and bump med to 70. Overpowered much?

    Now the sampire temp.

    120 fence
    120 parry
    120 bush
    100 necro(or 99)
    100 anat
    100 tact
    (this leaves 60 free points atm)

    now add the extra 100 points.. Add in 120 resist and you got 40 free points u can play with, along with the fact that poison dont affect u for very long and with the resist that not all poisons will hit you. again Overpowered much?

    And just because the majority of pvp dont happen in tram doesnt me there isnt any pvp in tram at all.

    120 fence
    120 parry
    120 bushido
    40 necro
    100 anat
    100 tact
    75 chival
    rest spirit speak(for Curse Weapon)

    Now the sampire temp.
    120 weapon
    120 bushido
    100 anat
    100 tact
    100 necro
    75 chival
    60 parry
    45 spirit speak

    120 parry became 60 parry.
    Do you really know the meaning of this?
    Why must dexxor suffer so much!?

    Oh i forgot chiv. Why use Curse weap? ur karma leaves would be so far out of whack for ur paladin spells. Drop the 45 ss and put parry up save ur temp. I do understand dexxers are getting screwed over every nerf, but adding another 100 points would have every other temp so overpowered.

    Also another note, how would u implement the 100 extra points in tram only? people invest those points but only to get them whiped when they goto fel? Wont work.

    Sampires weren't nerfed, skirting around skill point limits was nerfed.

    Skill point cap is fine... as mentioned, you can bust it wide open with items anyway.

    I have had no problems at all since the " Nerf ".

    Before, my template was:
    120 swords
    120 parry
    120 bushido
    120 tactics
    100 resist
    85 chiv
    40 necro
    15 focus


    Now, my template is:
    120 swords
    120 parry
    120 bushido
    120 tactics
    100 necro
    85 chiv
    55 resist

    I could easily drop chiv to 65-75 and put the rest of the points into resist, but I find that this template is still effective. Sure, I get para'd alot, but to me its still a very viable template.

  13. hehe you youngins complaining about a skill cap... back in my day there wasn't one and people still complained so don't expect to see anything change any time soon :scholar: although if you really want results complain 1000s of times about a topic they intentionally fixxed and aren't going to bring back that way they might be able to hear what you are saying and ignor you properly...

    Seriously now.. if you can't make a good build at 700-20 points then try being a mage. or something else, since you have yet to learn a good build for a real true fencer...

    Just about every other sampire player's adapted to the change.
    I have some templates that are as cramped as they come, so much so I'd kill for even 10 additional points.

    But, raising the cap to 800?
    You have to adapt to the game, not the other way around.
     
  15. i lost over 800 skill points when the cap came out :| so people can lose one build,

    there are alot of good smapire builds out there you jsut need to exparament.

    Sorry they already messed the points whith power scrolls. Give everyone a 800 skill cap increase or remove skills above 100 and scale every monster and skill back to keep up with gm skills being the best. Of course we reallty old vets can bring out 8x-12x gms from out of the closet if need be.

    Dexers did not get nerfed at all, if you need vamp form to play a dexer you are doing something very wrong.

    No to any more skill points, the game needs to be made harder, not easier.

    You can always impose extra rules on yourself to make it more challenging.

    yeah ... why not? Don't you do that? I mean this is a roleplaying game ... if you want a harder game, just make it harder.

    I have nothing against there being rewards for playing at a harder level - a lot of games now have achievement systems that include acknowledgments when players play with a handicap. Systems could be added that check that characters are limiting themselves (non-magical gear, no mount, no magic, no +skill items, etc) and give access to additional rewards.

    But I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who claim the game is too easy yet refuse to take a single step to make it more challenging for themselves.

    For EA/ dev, any discussion of increasing stat/ skill caps must be viewed from a perspective of retained/ gained accounts - it's central to revenue generation. The good news is that there is a way to benefit both the revenue beast and us. The "bad" news is that 800 doesn't work out in the "math," doing so merely translates into fewer characters required to do more.

    If skill caps go to 750, and each skill can increase to 150, you "broaden" the template range. It yields more capability for us, and due to specialization on a 5x150 character, likely increases "character slot" requirements for many of us. In short, everybody wins. There are potential pitfalls however. Skill functionality must not be adjusted again, as it has been in the past. As an example, requiring 150 magery to cast level 8 spells at 100% probability would be an irritant, a huge one actually, as was seen once 120 was introduced despite pledges to the contrary. It would also be a major error to continue to require power scrolls to take a skill beyond 100, allowing a monopoly by a few to restrict your ability to develop your characters was/ is/ would be utterly negligent and frankly doesn't even allow for valid debate. Personally I've been at this game for over 11 years now, and I'd recommend removing the vet increase to skill caps, simply make it 750 for everybody regardless. Allow all skills to advance to 150, though many of them cease to provide any added benefit at 100. But if somebody wants the title associated to 150 begging, sobeit. As I sketch out the "math," it's even possible to let stats go to a 250 base, but here opposed to skills themselves, there does seem room to allow for power scrolls to 275.

    Oh, and necro warriors survived just fine, ours did for sure. The "nerf" was no more than an adjustment/ tweak long overdue.

    No no good allowing skills go to 150 will be another nerf. As you saw with 120 they will reajust monsters up again making those monsters that could of being defeated whith 120 skill now needs 150 skill and those monsters that could of being defeated with gm skills now needing 120 it will push the game more to every other game outthere tht you can only make specific templates and cant use youre imagination. We need more room for inventing not hack and slash pick warrior,mage,tamer,thief,archer. We need make sure we can have warrior herders ,paladian necros, mage thief, warrior necro mages, etc that work great in situations so we can all be unique and use our imagination in the game it's what made Uo special from all the other games that pop up during the years.
    WE WANT FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    they're raising the skill cap by adding jewelry imbuing. if it goes through, my jewelry set will be 1/6 with 105 total skills.

    Becasue the game was designed and balanced around 700 points. So unless they made a major overhaul of both monsters and players then there would be terrible templates that would cause tons of havok. Cause not only would people be at 800, which is already messed up, they would be able to go to 900 with items. Or more.

    Is the FREEDOM that you said a lot of flexibility of characters' skill selects of UO?
    Surely, a lot of flexibility is one of appeals of UO.
    But devs killed Sampire under the name of BALANCING.
    Nerf of skirting around skill point limits necessarily nerf Sampire.
    No more nerf.
    Nerf can't be a fix or an adjustment.
    Challenging sucks.

    Originaly yea they built the game around 700 not counting the before the cap times then they added power scrolls so ok you choose 6 skills instead of 7 and now you are more powerful in those skills still could play very efficiently with youre 7 skills but then they uped the strengh of everything you fight requirering 6 skills instead of 7 to compete against them. Making it mandatory now to have 6 skills so in that time they nerfed a skill choice of all players thats why the cap has to be raised again to get back to the previous way of a nerf done without knowing they nerf it because of lack of communication or whatever.

    Using items for any skill gain is a fix that shouldnt be for the nerf i mention. As using items with skill lowers your defensive and availability of different equipment when you should have 800 by default to just be the same as people where before the nerf done to remove everyone from 7 skill set.

    You get away with holding a spells form with no skilll points then cry when theres a fix? LMAO

    Lemme cast evs with no magery as an elf then...Lemme rez my pet without vetinarian then...etc. etc.

    Hey if you run a GIMPLATE thats kool I have GIMPLATES also. But don't cry when they fix something that is working in a way that was not intended.

    Other wise everyone should be able to use smoke bombs to hide with no ninja...etc.

    Jus do wat we all do and play the game. How many ppl you think they rubbed the wrong way when they added elemental armor instead of using resist for that?

    If you were using a viable Dexer template that wasn't a Gimplate and they nerfed you SSI or sumin then yeah that sux dude....but yer pancakes about having to have the actual "required" skill to hold the form of a spell.

    IMHO you just sound like a spoiled brat whos solod way too many champ spawns using a gimplate and now that you have to adjust your toy; your panties are wadded

    Dont kill him because he didnt like it. I dont think it has anything to do with the sampire thing. I adjusted my sampire I have my mage and I have my tamer all able to still solo anything but the 800 increase i say bring it back so we can undo the lost of 1 skill years ago when they added 120 and then upped the strenth of everything to center for 6x120 and made 7x100 obsolete.
