Why was evasion changed to make it useless now.

What was the reasoning behind the horrible nerf to evasion? Why do I have to way 12 seconds between each cast? It is totally useless. The wait time should not exist or at least be 3 seconds. 12 makes it useless.

Not to discount what you are saying, but my gawd man, we are smack dab in the middle of the Stygian Abyss expansion, and this change has been live for how long now? You picked a heck of a time to start this thread.

Haha i know but I just realized this change. Were the pvp mages crying like babies? I am very annoyed at this lol.

Where's the use? I don't see it. Maybe for PVM not PVP.

No, this change has been in effect long enough for the whining phase to have ended. Now everyone has adapted, for that, ultimately, is the way of the effective UO PVP'er.

PVP was the reason why it was changed, and yes, they cried like babies. I think the wait should be lower, removed and evasion to have a different equation for parrying player spells, or the % lowered. But making it an ungodly percent you can cast every 12 seconds kinda destroyed it. It is useful, specially in PVM. Oh well. End the rant. Nothing's gonna change and everyone learned how to move on anyway. We have sampires now instead of evasion tanks. Next year it's gonna require spirit speak for vampiric form. Or maybe not since it doesn't really effect PvP so no one is gonan scream "Unbalanced" Though they do use "PVM" unbalance as a reason for changing things after they're whined about. Ok really end rant now... cookies for all

It is put to excellent use by any good samurai whether the situation be PvP or PvM...

It was ridiculously overpowered, some people described it as "God Mode"

Now, you have to pick and choose when you use it and it gets you out of some real tricky scrapes.

Its a get out of jail free card that cant be used on a whim :pint:

I don't understand, I felt it was good because mages could actually miss instead of always dealing 20+ damage.... maybe a three second wait but like you said it won't change.

If you know how to use it properly, it's useful. If you don't, then read this page: http://uo.stratics.com/php-bin/show_content.php?content=30741

You really did think it would be a good thing for pvp if a mage has to wait 8 secs or so to get a tiny window of 3 secs to actually hit you with something?

The recast time is 12 seconds, but that is from the first cast. So you have 6-8 seconds of Evasion and then a 4-6 second cool down.

Because evasion was spammable and allowed a 50% block chance to any parry-able attacks including bleed and poison. at 120 bushido, it also raised your parry rate from 30%(120 parry) to something like 40-50% for the duration.

So, a back to back spammable move costing negligible mana, that blocks a flat 50% of attacks AND raises parry % to 40-50% during the evasion. Couple that with bandies/pots/chiv/confidence and well.....

    Yah, thats why.

    Evasion ~ 10 Mana ~ 60 Bushido ~ (Stance) ~ Duration 3s to 7s ~ Recharge 20 s
(Puts you in a evasive stance for a short duration, allowing you to parry magical attacks like dragon's breath and energy bolt.)
What it Does – Evasion dramatically increases your parry chance, also giving you the ability to parry direct damage attacks from other sources, such as spells, and dragons breath. This does not give the evader the chance to parry status effecting spells and abilities, however, if the effect does damage over time, which can be parried, such as poison or bleed ticks.

As of publish 43, Evasion formula underwent some changes and no longer multiplies your block chance by a flat 50%. Instead it is based on your Bushido, Anatomy, and Tactics skills. The duration of Evasion is also influenced by these skills. Examples of the multiplier to the evasion bonus to your parry skill are as follows.

    * Evasion Bonus : 16% - 40% without GM Anatomy or Tactics
† 42% - 50% depending on level of Anatomy and Tactics skill starting at Grandmaster.

Example – If you have a 30% chance to parry, and your skill combinations net you a 40% parry bonus, your parry chance will increase to (30 * 1.4) = 42% for the duration of Evasion.

† It should be noted that as of the PvP Publish, Evasion has a 20 second recharge associated with it now, thus it can no longer be used back to back.

heh, I can break down any mage class and say why it is overpowered, but no one wants to listen because they all play mages. God forbid magery got some balance.

As I recall, it used to stand that you could run it constantly with mana leech/regen, giving you 60% parry chance to basically everything, at 120/120.
So, a 40% chance for spells to hit (including bleed/poison effects).
A 20% chance for physical attacks to hit (assuming equal HCI/DCI and weapon skills).

    Seems pretty overpowered to me.
As it is now, for the time it's active, it's almost as effective. You just can't run it 100% of the time.
If it's useless to you, don't use it.
Doesn't mean it doesn't work for other people.

The Fallout, you obviously do not know how to PvP. If you are complaining about this, then learn to TIME your evasions.

You are obviously the type of player that will just spam the button, and not actually use THE BRAIN to pvp.

Learn to pvp before complaining about something that is working perfectly well.

I'll agree with SevenFaith on just learning the timing of it.

There have been times when I've had myself plus three others synch exp/fs on one bushido dexer who timed his evade perfectly and we got him to 1/4 life, after a confidence and a heal pot he was full.

It really does give you 6-8 seconds of god mode.

Sure there are ways to counter an evasion spammer, trick them by pretending to cast to trigger their evade, etc, etc, but that is what makes UO PvP so much fun!

Every attack/defense can be countered. I think evasion is pretty well balanced where its at now.

I will agree when resisting spells can block mage spells again. Otherwise it was just another nerf for the biggest carebears in this whole game, pvpers. All they had to do was lower its effectiveness. Not add a 20 second timer making it useless.

  21. The Fallout

No, all the mage does is wait till my evasion is gone then its the same old explosion flame strike and in sar. Or they take my evasion time to run and heal nearly instantly.

I want mages to learn to time their parry's so they have to choose which attacks to block. Like anyone who dares not be a mage has to do the same for mage spells that deal more damage anyway.

This thread is going to go no where. I'm out of it.

Reading that tells me you aren't timing it very well. Evasion is fine as is.

Fallout, my poor little ice fiend...

You can HIT the mages, as a dexxer. Thus disrupting their spells. If you die to an Explo FS, then you should not be PvPing in the first place.

Not to add that only the CAREBEARS would actually WANT no-timer-evasion. Why? Because they'd be able to just hold down the key like a carebear.

Evasion, as it is, is so easy to survive with.

    Is that guy serious now?

Poor little dexer dont realize how easy they have already.
Btw when my dexer has evasion running it's like 8 second of god-mode for me.

between confidence, 50EP, apples, Petals, 4sec bandaids... they only way I can get killed is disarm+dismount ganked.

Agreed, if people say it sucks.. They need to practice on that template more.
Those are the heaviest templates in means of defense.

Hey Publish 43 hit just about every template. Requiring 70/90 tactics for specials put a hurt on mage templates and not to mention Precast was nerfed (special preped + combo) So losing this along with the reinstated 80 dex for parry prior to pub 43 left dexers more or less with moving open targets.

I hope you are trying to be a comedian...

Mages have spell failure...they fizzle when hit.
Dexxers have misses...when they dont hit.

Get what I am saying here? You keep crying foul about mages...stop it already. I keep hearing this argument about how mages never miss with spells...yet the same people who bring this crap up never mention all the times a mage gets fizzled while ATTEMPTING to cast. Ugh...

Try playing a mage template sometime around a gaggle of hiding archers with double hitspell bows that running shot you for 35+. (oh and keep in mind a flamestrike to 60 resist with inscribe will only be 40...and costs 7 times as much mana to cost...and takes twice as long as a running shot...and can be interrupted...a running shot on the other hand cannot.)

Figure it out yet? Would you like me to keep rambling. Maybe you would like me to mention that if you are playing anything aside from a parry or wrestle mage and get disarmed you are virtually useless?

    Shut

    Up

    Please!
