Will we see some of the less desirable artifacts (those that will be re-creatable through Imbueing, such as Axe of the Heavens, Helm of Insight, and possibley the few others that come close) buffed?

    Just wondering.

    ...

Instead of being buffed, they should do an art pass for all artifacts (at least for the item (i.e. in container or on ground, not worn) and paperdoll artwork) so that Artifacts look significantly different than normal items of the same type.

While that may be difficult to do with some of the smaller items (like rings), larger ones like weapons and armor would be candidates for this.

And I don't mean just the color change, but actual artwork change.

That would be nice, but I really think that some of the doom artifacts are just to ... mundane? I guess?... as far as item mods go.

Artifacts like those previously mentioned, and more like Crown of the Harrower, Holy Knight's Breastplate, Bracelet of Health, Divine Countenance, Breath of the Dead, Bone Crusher, Berserker's Maul, Frostbringer, Even the Jackal's Collar, and the Legacy otDL.

Hell, and give the Leggings of Bane something instead of Durability.
And the Dragon Slayer needs a boost,
    ...

Ok Just about all of them do. The dexxer ones seem the most underloved. And was there really any reason to have the +5skill Dryad's? That just seems mean.

No, mean is a Stealing, Magery, Melee Weapon or Parry skill Dryad - +5 just adds insult to injury.

As of now Artifacts can't be imbuned and mainly because most of them already have 5 properties. Items that can be imbuned can only be made with normal material and have fewer than 5 properties.

I think they've said that artifacts won't be involved in imbuing not necessarily because they are already maxxed out on properties, but simply because they are artifacts. As such they already spawn with fixed properties. Normal loot or crafted stuff, by contrast, can spawn with different properties each time.

I would submit that a buff of artifacts due to the coming of Imbuing is very unlikely.

I can certainly see your point, which is that many of the artifacts have properties that are now seem under-powered, and will seem moreso once Imbuing gives us the ability to make customized items.

The first reason why the artifacts are unlikely to get a boost is that, even though it may not be a "big project" per se, it may be bigger than they can handle right now with everything else there is to do.

Beyond that.....While I certainly see your point, I'd also like to submit that, even in their present form, some of the artifacts are under-rated.

I am still seen using the Blade of Insanity on occasion, though I have other weapons that are far better. There are some situations where the good ole' BoI just works really well. (Not to mention that mine has a cool, inscribed name.)

The Legacy of the Dread Lord has FCR 3, a property not normally found on weapons at all. FCR 3 may be useless to hardened gamers who have spent a long time building up suits that already incorporate 2/6 casting. But to a newer player who hasn't yet been able to find a good ring/bracelet combo yet, it's potentially very useful. Also consider that Orni + Legacy = 2/6 casting by themselves, freeing up a ring slot. The idea of a warrior-mage running around with a Ring of the Vile in the ring slot has a kind of intuitive appeal to me, though I know that better setups are available.

Jackal's Collar is still useful and my instinct tells me it will remain so.

Holy Knight's Breastplate has always sucked, so nothing's changed there.

Ring of the Elements is useful for a luck-tamer, who may otherwise be forced to sacrifice resists.

Frostbringer may suck, but it still doesn't suck as bad as people think. Back when I was an archer, I discovered it was a superb champ spawn bow. Frostbringer + GM Focus = 20 Stamina Regen, plus whatever you can get from your other items. And many champ spawn monsters have low cold resist. So it's a nice combination.

And finally....Imbued items will be non-PoF-able. Artifacts are PoF-able and are likely to remain so.

Let's face it....Artifacts are no longer for hardened, experienced players. They are no longer the best items in the game, they haven't been for awhile. Rather they are for middle-end players and/or upper-end players who aren't willing to spend a lot of time putting together a suit. They afford a certain predictability. You know what properties they'll have (they have the same every time).

All in all....I do not think a buffing of artifacts ie likely to happen.

Personally I would like artifacts to stay as they are, give Imbuing a chance to flourish. Let's not overwhelm the skill before it's even implemented by throwing a bunch of ubered-up artifacts back into the mix.

will artifacts be able to be broken down to Imbue other things, or however it works?

That could open up a market for all types of junk artifacts.

sorry if I don't know the details of imbueing, i haven't been following.

  10. I hope that some de-imbue item needs are drawn from rare places.
    **** WANDS ****
Let us rip these babies up and get stuff we need. The more charges the more we COULD pull usefullness out.

Along with that I do hope they fix Orc helms. As it stands now you can not enhance so when they make the imbue pass, maybe they will get some love.
Let us not forget Dragon Scale Armor.. Whew ... why make it?? NEEDS MAJOR LOVE there.

    They have said no.

Though of course this expansion doesn't seem to be anywhere near release yet, so anything's possible, still.

Only thing it's probably too late to go back on is having 2d support!

I wonder if they'll stick to that.

    Probably.

Otherwise you could get some....Interesting items.

Blade of Insanity with 100% all leaches and 25% HCI....

Honestly I'm pretty excited about the potential, and even reactivated an account based upon what's been said about SA thus far. I began very excited, but said excitment waned a bit the more I read. The text of the SA site itself tends to imply imbuing isn't "quite" going to be what many of us hope, the wording used there "downplays" potentail a bit, and least that's my interpretation. We'll see!!

You can't go by just the imbueing part of the SA site...its already so far behind what is stickied up top in the imbueing post.

Simply Put Arties are what they are some are Sweet with huge unobtainable properties on the item type that everyone loves like Armor of fortune hat of the magi or Ornament of the magician. and at the same time there will always be pure trash you only hoard to turn in at some future possible time. Lots of games have arties and the like and in every one i played same deal all hard to get and alot of Junk with:sleep2: a few treasures. even imbueing will not produce aof quality so still reason to farm doom. sorry if you got 5 dragon slayers last few runs but thems the breaks
