Wouldn't it be better if Crystalline Blackrock dropped in backpack ?

Given all of the complaints, I think that Crystalline Blackrock should be dropped in players' backpacks and not stay on corpses to be looted.

I also find it quite hard to loot the mess of corpses for Crystalline Blackrock, not to mention also, that selective looting scripts can be quite an unfair advantage to those using them at the expense of other players not using scripts.

My understanding is, that selective looting scripts might be so easy that just walking by corpses with the script running could ensure that all wanted items might automatically be looted by the script without needing to have to bother opening the corpses up, shuffling items around and so on.

Did Crystalline Blackrock drop on backpacks, instead, this inequality would be dealt with since players would not need to loot them on the corpses.

At least, that is how I see it.

    *shrugs*

Doesn't bother me having to loot them. Not like someone else is going to take it from the corpse before me. Nor does it take a long time to open the corpse and loot it since I will already be opening to corpse to look for more than just the blackrock. May be a tad hard to see, but if it spawns right into the bag then I'm definitely going to have a harder time finding it than if it were on the corpse.

But if your "argument" is about balancing the unknown group of people who use scripts to loot, shouldn't your "argument" ask for more than just the temporarily spawning Crystalline Blackrock to drop into the bag?

  3. No... it's fine just the way it is, so loot your own kills and you should find the CBR just fine. This is just one of many new ingredients, are you suggesting they make an exception just for this one or change all or them to drop in your pack?

By the way, I'm pretty sure that the scripts you mention don't work if they don't have looting rights.

Except with spammed Earthquake they'll have looting rights to every corpse (due to everyone else doing it too, so damage done is largely equal to any one else). Plus when you get to friendly with a faction, whilst the people working the spawn for the reward struggle to fight off the mobs, they'll completely ignore you so you can just walk about looting the corpses from a previous wave and, if they take too long, the side's own killed corpses too.

Already this morning on Europa, doing nothing but manually looting myself, with all of the above advantages, the vast majority of blackrock has been taken instantly by scripters before even I could get to it. I managed to get just 4 blackrock in the last run through, and only because someone had missed the corpses or they were ones I'd found in an obscure place. To be honest, I've started to have enough now, and may just turn up at the end for the chest roll... and much as I'll always have a soft spot for Ultima Online and it's innovations, there's a reason even HERE it's moving towards individual loot tables... human behaviour is just too selfish and greedy to have a free for all in anything really.

Hey I got an idea! Wouldn't it be cool if the game played itself and you just had to log in and watch your character?

Get serious... Why don't you go play something easier... like Spider Solitaire? Is that simple enough for you?

OMG you have to actually open a corpse and like... Loot what you want! OMG!....

you guys are being unecessarily harsh on this guy. having the crystalline blackrock for this event only drop in your pack would be a nice feature.

there are bodies everywhere, and when someone comes by and whirlwind kills or AOE kills a ton of them, even finding or remembering which ones you killed is kinda hard.

In the Enhanced client, you can see which Bane corpses other people killed but you can loot by the fact they are wearing armour; once you've opened the corpse, as long as they've not moved off screen, they'll stay naked after. So you can systematically search the corpse piles even without a macro... but you'll still not find any blackrock because people script looted them far faster than you can do with your fingers...

Hey, scripting corpses you didn't even kill sounds an awful lot like the game playing itself too, doesn't it? OMG! Surely MalagAste didn't make a colossally dumb comment without reading the actual thread did he?!

Of course, if it were instead a case of every single kill gave a Lizard Tail/Bane Head drop which just acted as a Kill Credit for the eventual hand in ("Go and slay X of our enemies, and I will reward you with these crappy potions!"), but had no other use, everyone would be in agreement it'd be a lazy, ****ty thing to script other people's just rewards off them. But because it's a limited drop, high value item which is also used in Imbuing, and which can be easily taken with a minimum of effort, suddenly the lazy Basement-Galts are outraged, OUTRAGED that anyone DARE suggest the event is just a little counter productive when abused as it currently is being...

I'm siding with the ophidians, and I've got to say that the Bane Chosen have way to much crap in their backpacks; too hard to see the blackrock in the mix of the junk.

Please make the blackrock drop in players packs - this does not seem like a very difficult nor time consuming thing to impliment.

Are you just being dense or something? Trying to open corpses and going through them in the middle of a big sea of corpses is just not fun at all and adds nothing to the game. Theres a reason why no other MMO has copied this silly way of doing things to this extreme.

Trying to open corpses and going through them in the middle of a big sea of corpses

Ctrl-Shift, open each one by it's object handle and get the cascade of grid view containers, right click desired items, close top container, repeat through the stack. I don't see what the problem is... people make such a fuss.

Cant attack creatures very well, have to keep Ctrl+Shift held down the who time.
When there are 20+ corpses to look through spread over a decent area, you lose track of which you went through unless you keep ctrl+shift up the entire time.

Right click to close out the ones you've opened and move to different spots knowing which pile you've gone through.

Granted the event uses a bit different of a dynamic, but it's still something that can be worked with.

Well yea, I do that, but when the radius of a group of corpses goes beyond the looting range, it gets tricky.

For a visualization picture a circle with the center cut out. the center is the stuff you can reach, and the outer ring is all the corpses needing to be looted that you can't reach.
Also, often the Tags are in the wrong locations. They're to the left, or above or to the right or below where the corpse actually is so that they get in the way of looting the stuff that actually is in range.

Scripts cant work without looting rights. If there was an exploit out there that allowed it it needs brought up right away for it to be fixed as that would be something new. Ive done it just fine and been able to loot my own kills and get plenty of the crystalineBR. EC makes it a lot easier to do but i can also do it in 2d just fine.

But for the events sake if it was just the BR from the event creatures only, and was turned back off after storyline event was over I wouldnt have anything against it. Either way ill still be opening every corpse.

It ain't that difficult to get looting rights on a good number of corpses. There is several spells or special moves like whirlwind that allow to inflict enough damage to be able to loot (and use a selective looting script, for example).

Whether or not someone uses an AOE and gets looting rights to multiple corpses, they don't get rights to your instanced corpse.

No, it wouldn't be better if Crystalline Blackrock dropped in your pack. There's nothing wrong with looting it yourself; if you're killing so much that you can't keep track of what you looted, you're probably not as concerned with the blackrock as you are with the killing.

And once things are dead, it's fairly easy to see what rights you have. If the corpse name is gray, you can loot it; if it's blue, you can't. Sure, you might lose track of one or two, but it's not that difficult to do.

I use the CC for almost all of my playing, and do not have trouble looting my kills, even when killing the banes on my sampire with whirlwind attack. CTL+SHIFT and dbl click the name bars. Loot and close the corpses.

I take the gold off the corpses I loot so I know if I open one w/o gold, I have already looted that corpse. This and moving around a bit to make different corpse piles makes looting much easier.

Looting is another skill, as I have found corpses killed by others that have the gold looted, but not the blackrock. Some people either don't care about the blackrock, are in too much of a hury and overlook it, or are not skilled enough at looting to loot the blackrock.

Most people right now are after the blackrock for the event rewards. Particularly the blackrock stew as that is one of only a few foods the tameable bane dragons will eat and that you can use to bond them. People are looking for a ready supply of the stuff.

  22. Your script claims really don't have any merit. As Radian tried to explain, only YOU can loot corpses that you have looting rights to until it becomes public.

I use the grid view in the Enhanced Client, easy to see each piece of loot and just right click the ones you want.

Someone allways wants the current event / content to be easier on them.
But if we allways give in to the % of people that want things to be just a tad easier we will end up with a game that has no challenge to it.

The problem with this, IMHO, is that the time the corpse stays "instanced", that is lootable only by the player having the right to, is way too short.

They go public way too early and it may happen that by the time a player can access the mess of instanced corpses laying on the ground (particularly if the battle was messy), most of them are accessable to all and have been looted by scripters, already.

Not to mention those decaying and vanishing before one may have the time to look at them.

As I see it, looting time is AFTER the battle has ended and the enemy has been vanquished, NOT while the battle is ongoing....

Though, as I noted, waiting for the battle to be over to loot, makes most corpses become public and loot scriptable.

This in the EC for me almost exactly. Lack of gold = already looted, move to make more manageable piles of corpses, etc.

The only time that it becomes an issue for me is in the Caverns of the Discarded with the trash mobs (wolves, plague rats, scorpions, especially the former two) that pile up on top of the ratmen and having to click though gobs of object handles... but I cover that by leading those to an off location while I'm grinding.

Join forces with someone in your guild or a friend. Party up, let them kill and you loot. Just follow them and pick corpses. 50/50 with your partner.

And how long exactly do you take before looting your corpses? Are there actually players sitting around waiting for corpses to go public on your shard?

Brothers in looting, regardless of client choice. :grouphug:

Looting is defintely a skill, sometimes an art form, as is spawn management. I suspect the OP is having difficulty with both. It all reminds me of this conversation:

"Wow this spawn is too fast!"
    "Try killing them slower."
    "What will that do?"

I would like to see the event specific loot drop into the pack because it is pretty hard to find my lootable corpses in the giant pile of bodies. On Great Lakes there are so many ophidians spawning into an immediate death of EV/earthquakes I can almost never find the ones I can loot.

At least after the run I go back and loot as many as I can once they go public, and there is usually quite a few folks waiting too.

So far I'm not doing this event much. There are lots of ophidians but there are so many players it just seems a bit silly. As soon as they spawn they die; I don't think any players even have time to take any damage.

    Solen are more fun.

Event specific, sure... artifacts and the like I can agree with, however I don;t really consider Crystalline Blackrock to be "event specific" considering there are at least two other ways to obtain the material.
