So I'm down in the Primeval Liche spawn doing nothing but minding my own business... a red comes up and EQs me, I take off, because it's just me and he's got two buddies with him. I'm not stupid, I'm not hanging around. Dash off as I watch them pause to catch spells and in the next instant are even with me on the same screen (yeah, I'm calling them speedhackers, period), but I make it to the exit.

"Wouldst thou flee during the heat of battle?"

DAMNED RIGHT I WOULD, AND SINCE WHEN CAN'T I?

That's absolutely ludicrous, and by the way, new since the last publish. Look, if they can't catch me before I get to that exit, and I haven't attacked them, I should get the hell out of there.

    What's. The. Deal?

Clearly you have some "reflect damage" armor on.

Reflect damage treats the reflected damage as you attacking. It's been happening ever since reflect damage was introduced.

You probably attacked them without knowing it. Field spells, AOE effects, something.

Well, that would explain it (except, the game should know the difference between a reflect attack and not), but I'm not...

Full Sorcerer's Suit, the Noveau/Etoille ring/bracelet, Chaos Museum Replica, Void Talisman, and a Conjurer's Spellbook... not a single piece of reflect anything in that set.

Two EVs attacking the spawn, he EQed me, I took off running as his two friends rolled up... not even in attack mode, so no accidental auto-attack.

That's why I'm calling BS on this...

And if they don't fix speed hacking in the game, there's going to be less and less people even interested in attempting the Felucca ruleset. Sorry, but unless these people are sitting in the same room as the server, no bloody way they have time to stop, cast spells, and then instantly appear next to me as I'm hauling ass.

I don't know... they say they hope more people enter the Felucca environment, and they certainly gave incentive to do so, but as it stands, unless you bring an army of your own speed hackers (which I won't do... I'm not going to cheat to win), you're S.O.L.

I have one char, a bard, that CANT LEAVE a fel dungeon without using the Stuck option. I rubberband and get sucked back in. Even if no reds are around. I can go hours killing in fel, and see not a soul. However every time i go to leave with this char I have to invis at entrance and use stuck option on help menu. Try that on for size then complain.

Well, not sure if you have or not, but if it were me, you bet I would be. :) I mean, don't get me wrong... I have... uh... four Feluccan houses all in the same area. I don't hate Felucca. But if it remains a bug-fest and hack-fest, what's the point?

Ever been running along and just get stuck in Fel? I do this all the time. It annoys the CRAP out of me. It tends to happen when there is some wimpy monster around that can trap me in and harass me until I find a way to navigate out of the bad terrain.

Also, I know the dungeon that you can get stuck in all to well. Ice. you just keep getting ported back into the dungeon over and over and over. There is a trick to getting out. Pre cast teleport, move to right before you would zone out and move once. Then you should be outside and you can just teleport.

    Characters without magery are SoL.

Also, its dumb that you can't flee combat. If someone is out numbering me 5 to 1 you damn better believe I would flee combat. If the 5 of them can't kill me before I get to a safe area, then they don't deserve to kill me.

That's your answer right there... If you got HEAT of battle message then your EV's attacked them first....

Your EV's could have attacked one of them before you got to the exit.

Or the EQ could have hit the EV's, causing you to gain heat. Which imho is stupid or at most bad programming.

Which part of "the EVs were attacking the spawn" and "the red EQed me" are you not following. The red came up WHILE the EVs were actively attacking spawn. The red was north of where I was, the EVs were busily buried in spawn to the west. They never even so much as moved toward them.

And, even allowing for the argument that they did (they didn't), that basically means a red can run up into the middle of something not even directed at him, stand for a moment, and then, voila, free ticket to kill.

However, in order to better understand this, I went back to look at my journal. There are three people (whose names, respecting Stratics rules, will not be named) who I see during this. One of them comes on screen, seeing my two EVs attacking spawn, goes north of me, casts EQ, followed immediately by Explosion... At that moment, the second person comes up, as I'm taking off. I have a clear "Person 1 is attacking you!" in my log.

Person 2 casts paralyze, person 1 also casts paralyze. Person 3, whom I thought was with them, was actually two minutes later killed by them (and I ressed him on the other side of the exit). Now, person 2 never actually attacks me; person 1 paralyzes me (and yeah, my fault for not having pouches, but I get paralyzed, Explosion, Flamestrike, Pain Spike, Pas Tym An Sanct (no idea which Necro spell this is), but I'm still standing before the last spell hits, and I take off running again.

What's interesting to note in this is the number of "You see: Person 1" and "You see: Person 2" in my logs... meaning, of course, that I was off screen from them, and voila, there they are again. Now, I understand the twists and turns in that long hall could make them reappear, but the issue at hand is, of course, that during these pauses to cast, they appeared right next to me in the matter of an instant.

I'd also say, fine, if they have a better connection, great, but then, they wouldn't be running even speed with me after that, they'd actually be passing me up, which they weren't.

Of course, I then get to the door, and get "Wouldst thou flee during the heat of battle." I also get the unique ability to report Person 1 as a murderer. If I had attacked Person 1 at any time during that, that right would have gone away. It didn't.

I mean, I'm all for getting more people back into the Feluccan ruleset. I enjoy a challenge. But things should damned well better work the way they are supposed to work, and Felucca is not supposed to be a free ticket to do whatever you want without repercussion.

Yeah... it's possible the EVs were hit by the EQ, but if that gave me aggro, that's utterly ridiculous.

And I'm not sure how I got to report the guy for murder if that's the case.

    Something's just not adding up.

Unless player 2 had hung back, waited to get aggro from the EVs, and then warped his way up, but if that's the case, that's just more super speed-hack balogna that really needs to go, because I'm 100% certain the EVs were busily engaged when this all went down.

Yeah... while I agree that push-through needs to exist in Felucca, it's amazing how it works.
Yeah, I know the one you're talking about too. Sad thing is that it's been that way for so long, and they've done nothing to fix it.
Well, and frankly, they've already changed everything so that it's ludicrous enough. I completely agree, if you've attacked someone, no recall, no running into your house (or someone else's) to hide. I'm fine with that.

If I or someone else manages to get a gate off, I should be able to go through (not sure if you can, because, of course, you can't gate out of Fel dungeons, so it's not like you could do that if you tried).

But here's the thing... If I'm in any dungeon and I make it to the exit, the game doesn't suddenly say, "Nope, sorry, you can't leave." In the Primeval Lich spawn, the exit to the Abyss is a five mile tunnel. I'm sorry, but if I manage to get from the other side of the spawn (far east side) all the way to that exit, and I'm still not dead, I should get away. The whole, "Wouldst thou flee?" Damned right, I'd flee. Particularly since we're talking about a buggy situation and speed hackers. I mean, I'm on a 50mb connection... this time of night, my neighbors are not causing my cable modem to lose strength (and even during prime time, I've got a 42ms ping to Great Lakes). I can tell the difference between I lagged and someone manages to beam themselves out of the ether and appear next to me.

I dunno... It's really as if they want Felucca to be entirely, "If you're not red, well, just hand your stuff over."
