Today on Lake Austin.. a house fell in Luna. The person that placed the house took up the foundation and tried to palce again but there were objects preventing him from placeing again.. the GM made the spot unavailable to place for anyone. The person that placed said the gm was talking with him right there right now and said the spot was being held just for him....

    GM favoratisim??? Illegal??? or fair?

I do not know what the GM's name is. But this GM needs to be turned in. If he holds a spot for one, he should do it for everyone.

Are you sure that's really the case? I thought if you re-size an existing plot via the house sign it reserved the area for a little bit of time? Maybe that's what happened?

    lol
No GM did anything there. The person simply went to resize his home. You are allowed one hour to resize your house in which the house spot and the surrounding tiles are reserved for you.

    Lol bingo

Guy places the plot, goes to resize, CANT because of the items. Thats why he calls the GM, GM removes item, Guy is now able to replace.

    simple to figure out

did you even read the replies?

  7. Actually the exact words were the game mechanics messed up so the gm is holding the spot till I can place. This is not resizing.. they did not try to resize they tried to take down and replace the house over <--. Unfortunatly the person did not get the spot back.. 2 other people placed about 15 mins into the ordeal after the spot was being held by the gm was released.

Did YOU read what accually happened? The spot was being held.. it was released about 10 mins after I put in the pettiotion to EA saying that a GM was holding a house spot... Shortly after that that spot was opened for palcement.. if it was "RESIZING" it would have been held for an hour. Thus.. it was only released after I caused a commotion.... The GM was wrong to hold the spot.. game mecanics or not... shame on the GM. AND shame on the person that tried to get away with the GM favoratism.

Glad that causeing a ruckus prevailed for once. Putting in patitions work. So hands up to EA for that one.

You do know there is a 30 minute timer to place a house after any house falls right?

  11. Yes of course but this is after the fact of the house falling and being placed.. This is a person who placed who removed the house to move it over so another person could place next to her..

    Totally different..

There is also a timer if you placed took down and placed after the 2nd time you have to wait an hour to place again.

I know because i have had this happen to me when i was placing in ter mur..

I am so confused by this report. If the GM was truly holding it wouldn't they have shown themselves? Suggest you send in your complaint to EA/Mythic so they can investigate into the matter. I would not go off of what a player tells you is going on... reason why...

    You walk past my house

"Hey you guess what!.... A gamemaster placed this house for me. Isn't that awesome? He also gave me this suit of armor and weapons."

I am not saying this is true or not true but your best bet is to email or PM them so they can tell you exactly what was going on.

House demo might have the same 30 min timer, but I know if the person places and demos and tries to replace they have to wait a week.

  14. Not so if they demolish the plot you can replace because it takes the timer off.. I did it twice since i moved to catskills just yesterday

House in Luna goes IDOC... House falls... house spot was unavailble to place... spot became available to place.. person places small house.. person tried to put a bigger plot.. take up the foundation tring to place a bigger one.. he can not.. he calls a GM.. GM holds that house spot... I come and cause a ruckus.. 10 mins later house spot is open again for palcement...

This was NO resizing.. This was GM favoratism period. GM was holding that spot for that person to resize.. read my log there.. he says himself that he was talking to the GM right then and there. Whey would he say that if he were not talking to the GM? I cause a rucks becuse that is just not fair for the GM to do. If the person takes up his house.. then its fair game for everyone.

He SHOULD have asked the GM to remove the items there before he tried to resize his house or take up his plot. That would have been the smart thing to do.

I don't need a house there. I have one right next door to it. I also have a house on each of my accounts. I just do not like to see GM favoratisim like that. It wrecks the game not to mention the trust in the people that are supposed to be looking out for their customers. No one likes to invest in bad deals.. (paying for a game that does bad deals with friends in high places jn the game). I'd rather spend my money on a game that is fun WITHOUT all the bad politics.. We have enough bad politics OUSIDE the game... who needs it here in UO?

  16. this is true but then the housing is unavalable would not show..and 15 mins later two different people would not of been able to place on the spot as the resizing gives an hour to resize it. Honestly all i did was sit back and watch the show cause it was rather interesting..

Because it sounds official, and might make people not even bother with trying to place there.
"I'm talking to a GM right now, he's holding this spot for me."
"Meh, screw this. No point in trying to place if a GM is blocking it"

If you look at the screenshot.. you can see that the area was not avaiable for placement. This does not happen after someone "removes" their house.

All is done now. 2 folks placed after about 10 or 15 mins into the ordeal. I don't know if its the same person that placed before.. but it's a different char that did palce. And the one that placed next to him had a VERY foul mouth. Was calling me a **tch. (fill in the blanks). VERY not called for.

It's possible, I guess but there's too little information or a timeline to really bother with accusing the GM.

I do know GM's have held an IDOC in luna on GL before and dropped it when they felt like it. If I remember it was one of Ultimas vendors and Genesis got it.

Was interesting at the very least.

Yes. This is done when an account is under investigation for wrongdoing. I've seen IDOCS held for YEARS not months. One on Ice Island on Atlantic was held for over 4 years. They finally dropped it. It was a villa.

But like I said.. All is said and done. I don't usually cause a ruckus.. but this was very bad juu juu... In the 12 years I've been playing.. I have have NEVER had a GM help EVER in house placement. In the old days, they would not even remove items from the terrain. Let's be glad they do that now. :gee:

Its possible the GM did hold the spot, After two Luna IDOCs I know there is a problem with resizing, It seems to let you make it only 1 tile wider each day. It needs to be fixed.

I agree, def something wrong with house resizing. I did ask on ask a dev but must have been deemed unworthy , perhaps the mod hasn't had this problem and thought it not worthy

When you submit a question it disappears and goes to a special forum where only Devs and the forum mods can see it. When a Dev answers it, it moves back to the ask the devs forum and appears to everyone. It's more likely that your question just hasn't been answered yet.

Sounds to me that the house fell, you came walking up. The guy that has been waitting for the timer to pass tells you "This is my spot, I have a GM here with me now" so go away so I can place. Mean while there is no GM, just a guy trying to place a house in Luna. I have tried that myself a time or two. It didnt work for me either.

Question: If this was GM favoritism, then why didn't the GM just simply let him place his house? Why would the GM block it for everyone including the person who claimed to have the GM talking to him? If a GM was actually there and helping this person then you paging would not have done anything.

Sounds to me like there was already a timer going on after whatever happened and that some idiot just wanted to try to make people believe that they had a GM helping them.

Actually I think that GMs should help people resizing houses in Luna - I know of people who have been screwed out of Luna spots and castles in Tram/Fel because they dropped the placer house and a hidden scripter was there to place and took the spot. This was before resizing was available, which doesn’t really work right all the time anyways.

We wouldn’t need the resizing option if we actually did have customer service by GMs coming to assist and make sure players did not lose spots when adjusting their house sizes.

It’s too bad person who actually was able to get the plot first off lost it this way, they should have just waited a few days before doing any resizing or changes.

Its also strange that if a GM was called that the two banners weren’t removed, they are still there when I ran by a little bit ago. Also how they were able to get a GM to help them in the first place is beyond me, usually takes an hour or longer for one to show up.

So... You get a message, the same message that pops up when a house falls from IDOC, or is being resized, ect for the variable timer to place, some person you probably don't know says a GM is holding it for him... and you believed him... and refuse to believe that anything else happened here?

    Really?

So you were the person in game chat spamming to "come see gm favoritism" and "everyone come and page"? If anything the way you acted makes not want to interact with you. I don't know you, nor do I know the guy who lost the house, nor do I know who placed the new house. You just came off like a child there and it was pretty ridiculous. You wonder why GM cue is way backed up? Stop paging on stupid things.

Guess he only told you a lie.

They made changes to house placing on houses that fell spots, making it unavailable for new house placement for 15mins at a minimum up to an hr.

Itwas in publish 52 (i read that publish notes yesterday somewhere).
    http://update.uo.com/design_590.html

This was no gm holding any spot, just a player trying to bluff the others to leave.

I can not believe some of the stupid responses here like this one... First, I was there from the time the house dropped to the time where the person took his house down. I saw he had a problem with placement the second time. He accually removed his house plot. It WAS NOT in resizing. I came to offer him help. He told me that a GM was talking to him at that moment. He also told me that the GM was holding the spot until he could place. When I tried my house placement tool.. sure enough we were not able to place. THIS is GM help in placeing and is NOT allowed.

My house is right next door to the fallen one. I am moveing OFF of Lake Austin and have moved to Catskills. I have no need for another house when I'm dropping ALL of my houses to move to Cats.

Yes. I was the one that was telling everyone to come to luna to try to place and that the GM was there helping this person. It was up to them if they wanted to come to protest the GM action. NO ONE told them to page for help.. NO ONE asked them to do that at all.. they were asked to email to question the actions of the GM. I think it would be rather STUPID to page for a GM when that GM was already doing rogue things.. don't you think so??? But I guess YOU would be too brilliant to think of that eh?

I was there from the start to the finish. I SAW what happened as I was orginizing my chests there to get ready for another shipment to move to Cats. I know what I saw. I know what I was told. And I also know what house placement rules are. The guy messed up.. period. My daugther and I BOTH tried to warn him NOT to take down his house because of the banners that were still there. We told him that there were several folks there hiding just waiitng to place. But he took down the house LESS than half hour after he placed. In fact it was about 15 minutes or so after.

Now WHO in their right mind that wants to have a good luna house tears it down so close after placement?

I never called the help as you ASSUME!!!! I wrote an email to EA about the situation AND then posted here on the boards. The house spot was released just a VERY short time after posting here. And if it was resizing.. the plot would be held for an hour after the resizing.. Go read up on that...and if you look at the time between my first post to the post where it said the plots were released.. it was LESS than half hour.. as I said.. resizing take AN HOUR to relase. So that shows there was NO resizing. The guy lifted his plot.

So yes... it's a wonder why the help is all choked up.. it's because of folks like him that screw up then look for the GM to fix THEIR screw up. So don't go pointing your finger at holding up the que. It was not me that paged. He could not resize it because the banners were there. He should have paged to have the banners removed before he tried to resize.. He WAS warned about that too but he chose to ignore ALL the warnings. Thus the loss of his house spot.

I did not assume ANYTHING that I have posted above. I was PHYSICALLY there from start to end. In fact my char is still there keeping watch of the plots. Just because.. that's all. No particular reason why I'm there watching.

My question at that start of this thread.. .GM favoratisim?? Illegal?? or was it fair at all?

See... all you have is that the kid said a GM was holding the spot, for all you know, it was the game doing what the game was supposed to do and he was tricking you out of the spot.

I see 3 things in that long post, correct me if I'm wrong.

"I was there the whole time"

"He told me GM was holding it."

"1 and 2 repeated about 2 more times."

Just stop to think about it for a second. Is it not possible that he was just telling you to "bugger off?" Maybe get you playing the sympathy card so he gets the house? That there actually was no GM just a game mechanic he was taking your ignorance of for granted?
And if there was a gm, that maybe, the game screwed him over in what he was trying to do? Or, since there's two plots, that, maybe, he made a mistake, told a story to get you to leave, and tried to place a house to place hold it, and ended up doing it wrong thus another person placed. (I'm not sure if this is even possible, your posts are beyond defensive thus making it troublesome to read to see exactly what happened as you're too busy trying to defend yourself, or at least that's how it appears. Again, my mistake if not).

Or, the GM made a mistake. (Favortism? I highly doubt it. Worst case is just another GM not knowing WTF He/she is doing.)

    Sooo, let's run this down:

Someone places a house then removes it to try and place a bigger one. But there were objects blocking it. That person most likely tried to resize it but objects blocked it so he supposedly called a GM. The spot is blocked for placement to everyone. Then for some reason the spot gets open to house placements for everyone and two small houses got placed by two people.

How is this GM favoritism? House placement blocked for everyone then open to everyone later. No one got special treatment. If anything the first person got screwed over trying to re-size their house! You'd think if this was favoritism that the GM would have simply allow the player to place again, lmao.

I still believe it would be fair for a GM to assist in this situation. If a person was able to place a plot there before anyone else a GM should be able to assist the player with resizing the house, even if that includes “holding the spot” from others.

Players like this one make simple mistakes all of the time and I believe that’s why GMs exist, as customer service to help players.

The player’s mistake was probably caused by the excitement and chaos that surrounds Luna idocs and incorrectly dropped the house plot.

Well then... if that was the case.. all is fair in love and war. I was right to call others to place then.. Why should he be the only one to try after his screw up? The only thing I did was let folks judge for themselves.

You know I would of not done ANYTHING if the guy had not gotten rude and loud mouth with me. All I did was offer my help and he started calling me foul names.. (accually it started with his buddies with him). I don't need that kind of crap in game. He wanted to be an ass and call ma a **tch and other names. I just abliged him about being a witch.

I can be your best friend in game or I can be your worse nightmare. To get slapped while offereing help I EVEN OFFERED MY HOUSE to him because I was moveing... then RIGHT after that offer I was told to **** off and was called a *itch. Wow.. someone offereing a FREE Luna house then being told to **** off *itch????? Put the shoe on the other foot and what would you have done.

He said GM was there helping. IF what he told my daughter and I was true, then there needed to be a protest and a show of folks to protest against the GM actions. If it WAS NOT true, then not only is he a lire??? he is inconsiderate, ungrateful, foul mouth and stupid for turning down a free house RIGHT next to the place he was trying to place.

In either case, this person really deserved to lose his spot. And I can only say that I am glad I am moveing off of Lake Austin. It's sad in a way because my newest acct charactors were born there.

And for the record. For those that have been with me from the old UO boards to this one.. (my date is off by about 2 years I beleive) know me as being a truthful person. I have NEVER brought an issue to the boards that was not true. I have been around a very long time. There is no need in game for harshness. It is sad when offering help to be treated like I was. Where has the ethics gone in people??

I still beleive in GM's. If not abuseing the help system, they are MORE than willing to come help. I don't use the help system very often because I know they are very busy. But this last 2 weeks I have had to call them 3 times. Twice to remove objects from the terrain that didn't belong there.. and oh by the way.. the first time I paged for that I asked them if they could remove a carpet that was elevated and was preventing house placement.. I was told that they were not allowed to assist in house placement. I revamed my page and asked them to remove items that did not belong in the terrain. The objects were removed. I was able to place. So right there is a PERFECT example of GM's not being able to help with house placement. When it was re-worded, I got what I needed.) And the last page was to make my chicken coops belong to me again and each indivudal chicken lizard and battle chicken had to be fixed. That was a grad total of 80 chicken lizards and battle chickens. Wait time in the que??? Less than 5 minutes.

So.. all in all IF the GM was not there helping and holding that spot for him.. then it was HIM that started all the comotion for lieing. And IF the GM was there helping him... evidently the GM could not help him place because he lost his house spot.

So now the new question..... Was it GM favoratisim??? Or was it just another tweek crying wolf because HE screwed up???

And now to answer your questions spacificially... "I was there the whole time"

Yes I was there the WHOLE time. As I said I was arrangeing to get ready to move another char to Catskills.

"He told me GM was holding it."

Not only did he tell ME that. My daughter and one other person was with us. And you can see that in the screenshot that I made. AND the argument was not heated at that time. When I offerd help he SPICIFICALLY told us.. and I quote.. "No thank you. I am haveing trouble putting my house here again. I am talking to a GM right now. He is holding the spot for me until I can place again." It was RIGHT after that statement did I take the screenshot of what the house placement tool said when we tried to place. It was UNAVAILABLE at that time. Remember. I SAW when he went to resize. I also SAW when he lifted the plot. That is when I offered my help.

"1 and 2 repeated about 2 more times."

My answer to those repeated about 2 more times.

Hmm I wonder about that. Yeah. I guess that was possible. HOWEVER.. remember I TOLD him (and so did my daughter) that we were moveing shards. We did not need another plot... offering MY plot to him. Sympathy card... Maybe just plain stupid???

I was and am not ignorant. Yes.. I thought about him maybe panicking and not quite listening to what I had to offer him because he was in shock that after he took up his house he could not place again. That's why I took "my ignorance" and offered him my plot in case he could not fix his. Then his friends butted in and that's when the name calling started... Thus abligeing him in BEING a witch.

Oh well. After 12 years of playing.. we all get screwed out of something some time or another. It happends. But GM's are NOT allowed to correct some STUPID actions that WE do.... i.e. Deleting some VERY rare artifact and asking the GM to give it back to you. Gingerbread houses dissipearing after chopping them to move them. Mouse holes dissipearing after they were chopped... Placeing a house then removeing it and setting a weekly timer then asking a GM to PLEASE give you back a house spot and takeing the timer off... VERY laughable indeed. So why should HE be any different than the rest of us? Whey should HE get the special treatment?

No need to defend myself buddy. I'm not the one that screwed up and decided to lie about it. I could have placed after the timer was lifted. I could have placed... in fact when the gump came up.. I placed.. or plotted 4 TIMES and did not accept before the 2 plots were placed... LOL You HAD to have been there to see that.. LOL too funney indeed.

Maybe... or he relized that someone was ACCUALLY there watching the favoratisim happening.. and others showing up to protest for that favoratism and the GM knew his game was up and released the spot. Who knows.

The bottom line is the guy screwed up. Wanted a GM to give back to him what HE screwed up. In the end, all was fair in love and war. Now there are 2 plots there.. one of which was the orriginal placer... So whats the gripe?? He STILL got a house spot.

  43. This is the only thing I can say to the people who were not there when the first house was originally placed. No the house did not have time to decay and fall again an hour later. It was DEMOLISHED by the guy who placed when the IDOC timer ran out.. He wanted to re-size .. Understandably there may be a problem with resizing in luna. Then again why take the house down call a gm. and the housing is unavailable to place come up.. Not to the person they had to wait for their "timer" to be able to place again... Yes understandably it would be upsetting for a gm to hold a house spot when on many occasions many of us have had problems not by our own fault. The usual response, correct me if I am wrong, is that gms cannot help with house placement. I have even gotten this when there was left over items from the previous house still in the air blocking the whole location from being placed on. So how can it be right or fair, if the guy was telling the truth, which i believe he was as it was unavailable to place after he demolished it, for a gm to hold a spot. Game mechanics or not?

We did indeed offer our own luna house spot right next door, for free, even after warning him to not try and pick up the house and place it again. Ironically enough after the page was put in.. there was no response but behold the spot was placed by 2 seperate people as the "Hold" was removed. Usually after a complaint/gm request you at least get a canned response stating this or that.

I don't post very much on these boards. I don't feel I need to, nor do I like causing drama trouble or nothing of the sort. But this to me was beyond wrong in ever terms of the word.. Maybe next time I should page a GM if I have problems placing.

Were any of the two who placed the small houses the original person who was having trouble?

Asking simply because if one of the small houses was the to the one who had the trouble, can narrow it down to him having to re-size back to the smaller size thus ending the timer.

I'm going to tell you right now, I don't have the paitence to read though all of that.

From what I did read, he was just bull****ting you and this thread is pretty much over.

There was no favortism, there wasn't even a GM. He was telling you to bugger off by saying a GM was holding it. That's all. It doesn't matter how many people he told, you apparently think it does. He would have told anyone who came there, that's all there is.

  46. No one was his friend and the other was a different person.. His friend eventually gave the house to the original that same day. They never got to re-size it to a bigger size and lost half the plot. In fact the first person to place after the spot was no longer being held or unavailable was a different person who came during the commotion.

I do believe that a gm should be able to help when game mechanics mess up with house resizing, however, this is not the case nor has it been before. I have known many people since i started playing in 99 who made a mistake and gm would not fix it when it came to housing. They should look at this problem about the re-size and give the same treatment to everyone who has or will have the same problem.

There are posts here quite often that complain about GMs never answering or helping.

A GM helps someone with a problem and you complain????

I think the GM should have removed those flags and any other obstacles and let the guy who earned the spot have it.

I wish they would remove the other crap that blockes house placement. Thers a stupid water trough that is blocking a spot by my house. A barkeep that I had at my old house is blocking the current owner of the spot, so he cant resize.

Why does this situation bother you so much? Are you glad the rightfull owner was blocked out of the spot he waited for and got?

You speak in contradictions. You want a GM to help if it a resizing issue but not this time???

Why would the original guy put a house down if he didnt want it? Clearly the guy could not get the size he wanted so he gave up and let a friend try.
