There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on the Prison of Nightmares. I was wondering if anyone compiled a page or thread yet? What I gather is you double-click on unfolded bedrolls until one of them creates a mysterious hole for you to walk over, then you end up next to a jailor who, upon hitting you, sends you to the jail. You then have to navigate your way out of the jail or go to the locked boxes, pick them, remove the traps, steal items, and then leave.

So I have a few questions. First off, I went down there without stealing skill by accident yet I was still able to steal ringmail arms w/ 20 human JOAT. Is this possible? Can anyone steal any of the items in the chests? If so, I may have to work on a different strategy.

Second, is there any secret to changing the path of the walls? Is there a timer or do you just keep getting caught in order to reset the path? I've noticed some paths--perhaps most--do not give an exit, so stealing items during that--time period or whatever--is a waste of time.

Third, what's the point of the items other than "Assassin Honed?" And are the Assassin Honed items always w/o any mods? I ended up stealing a skinning knife w/ just that mod, and it appears like I can imbue it.

Fourth, how do the bed rolls work? Is it like getting eggs from snake holes, or what determines how a mysterious hole is made? I went back thinking the hole would be under the same bedroll but instead my hit points went close to 1 or whatever and an NPC killed me, haha. I was like **** that, not going to check all those stupid bedrolls again. Is there a preferred place to check bedrolls? I was doing it on LVL 2 where the escorts are.

    Thanks :).

Basically you are looking for the mysterious holes to get to the demoic jailers - how many you have to go through depends on luck.
There is almost always a path out, but the path only exists for you, not the jailers. run run flee flee, and stragic hiding to get them off you for a second before the items reveal you.
Items in chests require no stealing, you do though have to be able to open them and disarm them preferabbly w/o dying. Being able to hide and stealth a bit helps... lure the jailers away from that area, stealth back. Open and loot chests and then high tail it away. If you get lucky you might have a direct path if not you have to go round and round.

Well how do you like that...thought you'd need stealing skill! Haha...okay thanks for that confirmation. I'll leave it on soul stone in that case.

How much lockpicking do you need to open these chests?

With 85, I was picking them 2/3 of the time and rarely breaking them.

I've found it best to run to the jail cells on the first floor, and use the path behind them to take a hole into a jail cell(in stealth of course) then see if there is a second hole under the mats in whatever cell it brings you to. If there isn't a second in that cell then I start opening ceells and searching. It should be mentioned that while searching you have a chance of finding soap under a mat which is a rare spawn and can not be insured. After getting teleported into the prison I check for patterns of mazes I recognize ( yes some cannot be escaped from) if the maze can not be solved I get caught by the guards until it changes into one that can. Once that is settled I make my way to the chesst room, pick each chest and remove all the junk items (onees that aren't hot) makiing sure to bounce one item by picking it up and putting it backin the chest. If there isn't an assassin honed weapon, there will b in ten to fifteen minutes. If I've bounced an item in each chest the. Next chest to notdisplay contents will have an assassin weapon init. The loot aside fromm the assassin weapon will not respawn unless you take all of it out of the chest. Assassin weapons can be imbued.
