Im beginning to think these forums may be the new permanent ones....
you mean you bought those lame excuses they gave us.
I'm hoping that's not the case. I definitely prefer the old ones. Why do people like these ones anyway? Because they have moods and new smileys?
i dont like em, i can never get my signature to load right...and the pic of me looting krystal was a classic!
There was a thread on this subject in UHall about a week ago. One of the admins [I belive it was ZigZag] said that as much of the recovered data as possible will be imported to these forums.
Vbulletin is going to be the new site. The old site belongs back in 1995. They is a lot more they can do to this site. It is very basic now. They did say they going to up load the old sites posts and accounts in to the new format.
ahh...so account info like the number of posts and age of acc are gone forever then. i just hope they didnt loose all the stuff on house deco and the roleplay stuff.
I guess I prefer the 1995 site then. What was wrong with it that makes these forums better?
This is the software most message boards site use. It can be changed and customize very easily. It is like using AOL built in browser to search the net as to using Firefox.
These are going to be the new ones. Book it...la
OK, to bring everyone up to date:
These message boards were in testing to replace the old ones already, but were no where near ready to use. They were brought up asap in a very basic form because of the emergency, which means we have the default vbb settings in a lot of areas. Customizing them is going to have to wait till we get everything up and running properly again.
To translate the announcement at the top into more basic terms. The people at the data center went and formatted the wrong server, the one they should have done is identical physically. The people we were paying to make 3 per day backups - 1 local, 2 remote. Hadn't actually been doing it, despite telling us they had and being paid for it.
Anyone who knows how hard it is to recover data from a formatted drive with a new os installed will realise - given the size of the Stratic data base, why it's takiing so long.
The recovered databases are being imported into these boards, but that's going to take a while.
There are things on these boards I wish were handled differently, there are things I miss, but I'm just trying to be patient until they can be addressed, which won't be till after we get the rest of the forums back - mostly the professions, and the user data base merged in.
yea, but they coulda told me 5-7 weeks im a big boy.
That's what was believed at the time it was said
Just so long as NewsPro dies a horrible, painful, screaming death, I'm happy.
Is there a good torturer in the house? I'd even settle for a bad torturer.
Oh, and the glass-inflicted agony's down to a dull ache now, for those who were asking. I should be around a fair bit (while making sure I don't strain the eye) early in the coming week. I hope.

Will the guild forums be recovered?
I believe so, but I'm asking about it. I'll get back to you on that.
