Its been since you decided to have your servers hosted with Amazon Web Services.

my ping has gone from averaging 30-40 with 0% packet loss, to averaging 95-200 with 10% packet loss being pretty much the norm, causing lag spikes and just common hiccups.

i've been running a constant ping to Atlantic, Great Lakes, Google.com, Ventrillo.com, and a few local ip addresses i test with on the net. I also ran a ping plotter to capture times at one point.

The uo servers are the only ones i am seeing the enhanced ping time and packet loss.

The packet loss just makes me not want to bother playing most of the time, and i seem to be effected the most during the evenings

Time Warner NEO (northwest ohio though). while typing this, ran a separate ping to atl. 302 pings, 7% packet loss, avg. 127 high of 173. Getting 45-55ms to everything else im hitting on the net.

through a tracert to atlantic, i noticed the pings start going bad at these telia.net hops, whatever the hell those are. It hits those, times out a few times, then arrives at amazon web services.

Can EA/you guys do anything about this? it is right before it hits your amazon net "cloud", well after it gets out of time warners hands. I doubt it, but its worth a shot before i just get overly frustrated with it.

This article, several years old, seems WoW previously had some sort of latency issue with the same sub network.

I have no idea but all I can say is it's NOT just UO. Today I'm having multiple errors right here trying to load stratics.

Ive Noticed it to and i also have time warner and premium internet and i only have lag issues with uo and nothing else not even stratics. And it has been really bad lately were i cant even finish logging in. I get stuck after the char select screen and i also get stuck in these crazy lag spikes that makes uo crash and unresponsive

I came to Siege from Chessie a few months back so Chessie is definitely an option.

I played a few minutes last night and the lag monster seems to have gone from being the Hulk back to David Banner. I'm going to put a few hours into the game today and see if things work better.

Maybe it's not better. <sighs> Had the above before the fix. The one below is from about 10 minutes back

Well the thing is, it comes in spikes. So you're going to see a relatively normal ping for a while, until you actually hit the lag spikes. For me, I don't really get the lag until I've been logged in for a few minutes. I have a really good connection normally, but once I've been playing and I start fighting with a bunch of people on my screen, with houses around and whatnot it starts to get to the point where I can't even move. I go from superman to superslow in a few minutes. There is the possibility of course that my source of lag is differen't, but I think that's highly unlikely given the circumstances.

I am fairly certain that the earlier lag has been fixed, and the more-recent lag solely is due to my not having been in-game for a good bit.

    The servers miss me.

    Or, then again, maybe not.

It's obviously not fixed by Tanivar screen shots.

Look at the latency and packet loss differences.

    Before fix:

    Shard Latency Packet Loss

    Chessy 97ms 7%

    Cats 101ms 27%

    After fix:

    Shard Latency Packet Loss

    Chessy 93ms 17%

    Cats 94ms 33%

Just using those 2 above and scan the rest of the shards by the screen shots after the fix you wil notice even though improvements in Latency you see increase in Packet Loss.
