In the words of Bill s. preston Esquire and Ted theodore Logan " be excelent to each other"
As for the whole "you guys are a zerg" " na-uhh, you guys are the ones that zerg" " your mom is the one that is the zerg" thing, I got to say that I love it:thumbup: I dont know of any guild that reserves a "fair" fight (sometimes in a duel but not always). Most of you know that my chars roll in a group of less than the average bear, so I have seen my share of ganks:gee: I used to try to rock it solo and would get mad if I had a group smoke me, then a guy ( after he killed me) gave me some advise, " if your tired of always getting ganked, join a bigger guild" at first I thought this was the hot garbage way, but I realize this guy was on to something. The game is a "Massive multiplayer role playing game" the more the merrier. part of what makes the game fun is the anticipation, the excitement of making it out of a seemingly dire unforgiveable situation. And the gate fights with large numbers of people are dare i say awesome. I have seen elite PVPers and program assisted supermen alike run around and try to survive from the mass attacks of novice to seasoned non affiliated and most of the time uncoodinated group fights. when you are on the recieveing end of a mass on few fight, it is easy to get distracted and refrence the "fairness" of the fight, relax its part of the fun, albeit doesnt seem like it at the time. Guilds that support the mass attacks demonstrate a dynamic of the game that is as entertaining as it is sometimes complex. Incorperation of the principles of patroling demonstrates leadership.

Hehe, well said Talbo! 10 points for sure for the bill and Ted reference!

  3. But what happens when the zerg guild, for the sake of Garath's thread locking hand, lets say less than selective of the members they recruit? Let's say, for the sake of argument, this zerg guild contains jerks, liars, and all manor of undesirables. Let's also say that this zerg guild, for the sake of argument of course, contains an individual that pulled one of the bigger and more destructive scams in recent memory at a rares fest a bit back. I don't want to play with individuals I can not trust!

*Let it be noted that I did not accuse anyone of anything or call any names. I did not even mention a guild.*

Clair, Specifically Im referring to the PvP aspect of it, Im not privy to the scams from over here, but id have to say that there are enough talented people that play the game and people (much smarter than I) have abilities in game in which they shouldn't have.
As for the PvP, I think that the larger guilds that conduct a "mass" recruiting drive are conducting a Feluccia community service( hear me out on this its a little unorthodox). A large guild has amongst its ranks some great UO experience, so a player that has not enjoyed the thrills of PVP battle, would have an opportunity to get some pointers from seasoned vets. the new guys learn teamwork, planning and execution of UO tactics as well as the hierarchy of a guild chain of command ( these are things that will ultimately make his game experience more enjoyable through the times to come). I look at it as a clinic for potential Feluccian citizens. A sense of Espirit d corps that he may have never felt during his journey through Sossaria. Now how the guild incorporates its large numbers is just really a lesson in the principles of war. Mass- Concentrate combat power at the decisive place and time. Sound tactics are seldom considered "fair by the receiving end. and yet these tactics are as old as combat itself.
All Im really saying is that in PvP if you get rolled up because a large force rolls over you, Understand that if your tactics for the next engagement do not adapt, the next outcome is most likely the same as before. but its still kinda fun eh?

unfortunately such elements exist in all walks of life.

the anonymity of being behind a keyboard proves to enhance
    the unscrupulous actions of some.

that and knowing that most times the gm's will not uphold
the integrity of the game, gives sosaria lawlessness on the
    same level as darfur.

  8. Gareth I am not harassing you. You have a job to do, you do it well, and I respect that. I am just trying to say something with honesty that the powers that be at Stratics would rather I not say, so I open the tools of rhetoric and say it in a veiled way that complies with the rules, technically if not in spirit. *eats cookie because I am not allowed to have them in real life*

I think my post might have been misread. I am not aginst zerg guilds. I am just saying I would rather be rolled than have to roll with undesirables. In other words, I would rather play with people I enjoy, like, and trust than be apart of the zerg with bottom feeders. Some things are more important than winning . . . but I'm not talking about Chessy . . . really . . . *giggles and munches on cookie*

I'm with you Clair in what you say. All those small guilds who get rolled up all the time in fel (like Talbo's and mine) have only 2 people in them because of exactly what you say. However, as much as the zerg guild makes us steaming angry when we are just trying to rock a spawn to get the 120's that we need (cause we definately don't have the funds available to us that most of the rest of the entrepreneurs of the land do) and we get raided by the endless zerg. When you only have two, you don't really get to practice the principle of security and are hoping that you can stay alive with speed instead.

On the flip side, it is very exciting to figure out ways to fight the zerg. Of course, this always comes with the endless trash talk on global because, according to some unwritten code, it's ok to zerg and outnumber everyone, but it's not ok to 1. disarm, 2. use pets, 3. housefight, 4. be a ninja, 5. use guards and guard zones to your advantage, 6. cast spell plauge. Well, I hate to be diarmed, don't like fighting pets because i have to bring a zillion slayer weapons and have them on macro to defeat them, hate it when I have a guy almost dead (it's rare, but it happens) and he runs into a house, hate deathstrikes, go beserk when I have guards called on me, and don't ahve enough apples to counter spam spell plauges... but I would rather be frustrated with the above six, then get ganked. And, I would rather fight to the limits that I can then just concede to the numbers.

So, bottom line at the bottom... I think that zergs **** people off the most when they have mad numbers but then call everyone lots of things not allowed on these forums (but strangely prominent on global chat) when an outnumbered group or individual does what they need to do to survive and maybe have a snowballs chance of scoring a victory.

    I'm just saying...

I referenced somethin talbo said in the pvp thread a few minutes ago. We are undoubtedly the zerg on the shard. NO excuses. However we have a lot of new players or players that just came back to the game that are learning to pvp. They will be the next generation of pvpers and keep this game going when our guild dissolves. No one learns to pvp by hiding in houses, hiding in guards, or running solo. The larger guilds need to take ppl in to teach them how.. so when they dissolve they all fight each other and it keeps are dwindling PVP based players going.

I am against guard zone and house hiding because its just exploitable. U can sit in guards with five ppl and try to sync one person but no one else can attack you. so in effect u at that moment are the zerg 5 on 1. If someone flags you and u run into a house, u can sit on the steps attack and then runn back in if you get low its idiotic. U should be instant flagged if u attack someone after they attack you. If you dont wanna fight u should be able to run into ur house and not fight, but u shouldnt be able to fight from your house

Pets? come on PVP stands for player verse player, not player verse player's monster. If you can't stay alive and kill with the numerous temps out there that dont use pets, u dont belong in fel. Ur just hiding behind ur own meat shield.

Disarm? we allll hate disarm lol but its a real temp and a special ability. completely legal in my eyes even though its tough to fight a dexer on a mage who constantly disarms

Deathstrike? it wouldnt be soo bad if they didnt have smokebombs. Lets face it one does like 50 damage, u get two deathstrikers on u that both get it off, ur gon be redlined. But then u turn around and attack one and they get low and poof they're instant gone. So they're one of the most damaging temps out there and the most defensive, its def the gimpest temp out. It should be like WOW once u come out of hiding to attack u cant rehide like a lil girl.

Ive been on both sides. Ive been on the five man team who gets some kills but never wins the overall battle. Ive been on the 20 man team, where u fall asleep cuz its no competition and just boring. The best is ATl when its 15 on 15 and two other smaller faction guils all goin at it over a harrower. And no UHOH group members soley concerned with their pixel rewards. Just leaving it up and fighting for hours and hours on end. Atl is really the only shard u can still get that at.

I honestly agree with most of what you say there. But I pose the question to you... if you are a small guild with 2-3 players, what do you do when you PvP? Do I have to find a big guild? If I want to stand up and do the "honorable" thing, then, yeah, I would have to join up with someone with numbers. But if I want to maintain my identity, then I must break some of the standing rules and use pets or ninja it up or use a house or whatever. It's hard to fight against some of the best PvPers in the game already, much less when you're outnumbered.

BTW, two flamestrike/explosions are worse than two deathstrikes. No one ever complains about mage spells because they were here from the beginning, but they are the only thing in the game that never misses. That's quite an advantage. I'm not saying that mages have to be nerfed or anything, just that I hear people complain about everything under the sun except mages (not myst obviously).

Happy day. My factions guy is in training. I'll see you in a week.

Well A mage is still the hardest and most complicated temp to play. U may not ever miss unless they have evasion however u try getting a sixth or seven circle spell off while being hit by two deathstrikers, unless u run prot which no good mages do. 2 deathstrikers will kill one person way faster then two mages could.. just sayin

And to answer ur other question, we are a very large guild. Uhoh can field 8-10 saw 9 on at a fire fight a week ago. Jawbone and his sl crew got 5-6. X & GS got like five i think. to fight anyone but us and uhoh ud be fine with a five man crew. However if its a night when all of uhoh are on and all of us are on, u wouldnt last long with a small crew. Id say join up with FY, id like to see them get numbers back and start figthing more.. but telll them to joinnn factions haha. If its a choice between ninja and pets, thats ur choice. I just am against stealthers and pets so i wont run them, but to each his own bro

Its like you said bro, "To each his own" I know a lot of garbage talk goes on in global, but people need their drama, now thats entertainment.

I see that Longshanks has joined up with uhoh, whats up with that bro, FY still around?
When I get back Tread and I will be rocking a two man HK element ( unless we find a third), so I look forward to the trash talk from that, just want to say up front nothing personal.

As far as holding our own, I think the victory for us comes when our two drunk a$$'s take on 5 and get one of them, (actually Its really fun just seeing if we can get away sometimes LOL) I mean pull some resources from the main effort for just us two= win! Im sure we are going to get some of you Pi$$y but its all In good fun.

Just let me throw this out there, and Im sure my bro will agree, but when we are operational again and some of your savoy Pvpers find your selves a little short for a fight, and want some help just give us a call, we will fight anybody. ( you can say that when your not any good:bowdown:) We have friends or acquaintances in the Pvp Community. and I know in at least a few of the main guilds we have several clowns still holding a grudge from over a year ago ( you freaking clowns know who you are, and amuse me)
