Shouldn't the server save during reset and not start 10 or 15 minutes before reset? Been wanting to get that off my chest for 17 years ;)

That's the time it takes to do the save; they're not saving, then waiting 10-15 minutes, then hitting reset. :)

What happens is the server doesn't save any actions 10 to 15 minutes before the server actually shuts down. Why not do that while the server is down? Or disconnect people when the server actually isn't saving anymore? I guess what it is might be is the server starts saving, while we're playing for no reason for 10 minutes, then shuts down. Something like that.

I happen to be on this morning right before Siege went down. I had just gained .1 in swords when the message came out. 2 minutes later the shard went down and my gain stayed. That makes me think it saves right up until it stops saying You have 2 minutes to find a safe place. Of course Siege is a much smaller shard with a quick save and reset . Only takes about 5 minutes for Siege to come back up.

It depends on how many items must be backed up, and how efficient they've made the process. Atlantic would no doubt take a bit longer than Siege, yet not as long as 16 years ago when you could count on the last 90 minutes not saving.

Server down wars were fun. Sonoma went down one night and didn't have its normal maintenance. A bunch didn't realize the latter, and they went so deeply red that they deleted the characters rather than macro back to blue.

    This morning on Drachenfels:

6.00 am: 2 min. warning (I startet walking toward my house)
    6.02 am: Shutting Down message
6.17 am: Connection Lost (I was standing in my house)
6.18 am: Drachenfels is not listet
~ 6.27 am: Drachenfels back again. (I was standing on the place I were at 6.00)

    Now I have one question:

When you attempt to log in and your server is not on the list, can you just wait on that screen and see it coming back on or do you have to go back and reenter your password?

I mean we're all use to it and kinda accept this as normal. But you'd think they would address it.
