Bard Second Thoughts

    Hello returning player here,
I had a misadventure with a soul-stone and lost 70 pts of inscription while juggling my bard skills :((going from 7GM nox mage to Bard) and it's made me rethink the whole thing. I am on Siege so I think "pure" templates are more effective. By pure I mean not entirely based on items.

After playing a bit more on my mage I am starting to get the feeling that Archer bard may be the more effective PvM template.

    I think my choices are:
    Bard Mage:

    120 Mage
    120 Eval
    120 Med
    120 Music
    120 Provoke
    120 Discord

    Bard Archer

    120 Archery
    120 Tactics
    120 Anatomy
    120 Music
    120 Provoke
120 Discord (This is a hard call, shame not to have heal on this template.)

Any thought? Everyone seems to be all about Chivalry and Bushido but I dont have any experience with either. Fitting them in seems pretty hard on a bard.

I have not decided weather to add a new account or drop $60 on soul-stones. This is also a hard call.

on siege, i would do bard mage. it would give you alot more versatility. you would be able to gate travel, heal, invis, and do damage (EVs, ebolts, FS, all the good stuff), plus, to be effective, you would not have to spend and arm and a leg on a suit. all you would need is an imbued lrc suit with mana regen and all that good stuff, get your hands on one of the invasion spellbooks, and some imbued jewls and you will be able to rock some mobs. whereas, if you were an archer, you wouldnt be able to gate, heal or hide. to do some sick damage you would need to run an expensive suit or join factions for the faction gear, either way, expensive when you die. hope this helps!

I know nothing about siege, but I think this temp is a beast pvm.

    120 Mage
    120 eval
    120 med
    120 spellweave
    120 music
    120 Provo

Might be really hard to get 4 other weavers for a focus. But weave requires no regs, has offensive as well as defensive spells and WOD owns. With 0 SDI it does 300 damage. My current suit hits for 621.

from a player who does both, and who has played on siege a few times over the years i think i would lean more towards killing off provo and putting on chiv with some med or bushy with some med.

really, archery for pvm without chiv is kinda pointless

no enemy of one or con weapon would suck
thats at least double to triple of your hits every time.

if ya had to choose one id go chiv.

here is something to think about.

put on chiv and 50 bushido, with the 50 bushido and if you use honor you will get a lot of your mana back when the mob dies.
    same with hp and dex.

granted with 50 bushido your not getting back a lot, but its better then nothing.

Those look like good templates. Nice to see those. May I ask where you like to hunt?

    120 Mage
    120 eval
    120 med
    120 spellweave
    120 music
    120 Provo

This is good but believe it or not 120 all the way down the line isn't the best.
you need some spell resistance not alot just enough so you can move again after getting parlized or you can run around with a traped box.

I lowered every skill to about 110 to 115 even provo and music is at 105 then I use a ring to raise it to 120 when I am using the skill on large monsters.
I carry two sets of rings one for small monsters one for large monsters.

at the moment I soul stoned the provo in order to build up discordence.
Not to do away with the provo (No way). But this way I can switch out skills when I need them using three sets of rings (bracelets actually.)
