Im training lockpicking and remove trap at the moment and was told that to GM in these skills i need to go to Twisted Wield and get a Satyr to disco me otherwise i can not get to GM.Is this correct and if so how do i do this, ive been playing for some time but never with the music skills and was wondering if someone could give me a step by step on what to do.At the moment both my skills are only in the 70's so i have some gaining to do before i need to do this, im using my own tinker that keeps about 10-15 points higher than my lockpicking,is this the right thing to do, i know as my tinker hits GM i will be killed many times but i plan to stay in haven near a healer when this time comes. Its just the disco thing that im not sure how to do,,,hope someone can help,,,

No, this isn't true. It might be faster to get to GM that way, but it certainly isn't a requirement. I have several lock pickers and remove trap chars. They are all GM and they have never been discoed by a Satyr.

You will have to do lock picking on dungeon boxes / paragon chests for the last 5 points of lock picking. That might have changed as it has been awhile since I have worked that skill. Tinker built trap boxes will only take you so far. (This applies if you don't go get discoed)

That sounds about right, I usually use 8 - 15 points ahead. You will notice where the best gains are. Keep your tinker at that level.

Make Dart traps. You can survive a hit from a GM made dart trap in a decent suit. It's also a good way to work healing as you go too.

Go to the Twisted Wield, you will need a quest to gain entrance and you might want to have positive karma as there are pixies at the entrance. Proceed past the pixies to the sand and you will find a Satyr. They won't attack unless you attack them. So, attack one and see if he discords you. You will see your skills drop - (message on the left side of the screen and your journal) You will also be all sparkley when discoed. Once you have been discoed, run off a bit and start working your skills. Run too far and the disco will wear off.

The effect is similar to using a mage weapon to train magery. As you skill in magery increases, it is harder to gain skill. Equip a SC mage weapon and your magery skill drops to the level stated on the weapon. You gain skill quicker and faster because your apparent level of magery is lower. Meaning you can gain by casting lower level spells again.

    Hope that helps,
