    Interesting. And I bought them off vendors.

    So... Ill have to drop one I bought and see if its bound.

    They seem that way and I thought this as well at first too. Turns out that once you complete the bulk of the quest however meaning up to the point where you get the bottle from the Hag's desk. You can then use crystals obtained from other character or people and use them. So as long as the character you try to use them with has completed "most" of the quest they can be used. If however the character you try to use them with hasn't completed up to that point of the quest it will give you a message saying something like "you can't use someone elses crystal".
