Concerned about item magical properties

I saw a player drop off a slew of weapons in front of the bank, and noticed some ridiculous stats on a few of them. One had 80% mana leech and another had 51% damage increase. Are these legitimate items?

I've only ever played UO in the AOS rulesset, and back then, magic properties like these were capped at 50, so I wonder if they have raised the bar in magic item properties, of if these were some kind of hack.

Thanks, and sorry for the stupid question.

They changed the leeches to go above 50 depending upon the weapon speed. As for damage increase, it can be increased above 50 by using special woods. Hope that helps. I would think the weapons are legit.

Okay, thank you so much. I'm only three days into playing on the official UO, and I just was worried I might get in trouble for picking up an item off the ground.

That 80 mana leech naginata is going to be very fun on my samurai. :)

Edit: The weapon with 51% damage bonus was a dull copper one.

About 2-3 years ago, they changed Arms Lore.

Now, Arms Lore gives a DI bonus to exceptional Weapons and resist Bonuses to exceptional armor

the amount is +1 per 20 Arms lore for most shards, +1 per 12.5 Arms Lore for the Siege Perilous ruleset.

Bonus / Normal shard / SP
    +1 / 20-39.9* / 12.5-24.9*
    +2 / 40-59.9 / 25-37.4
    +3 / 60-79.9 / 37.5-49.9
    +4 / 80-99.9 / 50-62.4
    +5 / 100 / 62.5-74.9
    +6 / N.A. / 75-87.4
    +7 / N.A. / 87.5-99.9
    +8 / N.A. / 100

    * Humans are treated as if they have 20 points in all unused skills, due to the racial trait "Jack of All Trades" that was added with Mondain's Legacy, so will get +1 as the default if they have no real skill points in the skill

This means that exceptionally crafted weapons can have up to 55% DI (58% on SP), if made with a runic by a person with Grandmaster Arms Lore. If the item is wood, it can be up to 67% (70% on SP) if Frostwood used in the crafting (though most people use Ash (10% SSI, no DI bonus) or Yew (5% HCI, 10% DI) instead). There are also some recipe-made items (all ML-style weapons) that have an inherent DI bonus that stack with the runic and Arms Lore bonuses.

Thanks so much! That information helps a ton.
