Crafting the Perfect Sampire Weapon

    I've been lurking in the shadows of the forums for a while now, and finally decided I'd contribute. I've been crunching some numbers and am coming out with some pretty bleak results.

    First a couple of assumptions;

    Any basic Sampire weapon will have 3 core properties;
    1. Swing Speed Increase
    2. Hit Stamina Leech
    3. Hit Mana Leech

    There are 26 possible properties one can get when crafting a weapon. These I counted from Section 1.4 of the Blacksmithing FAQ;

    9 Weapon and Armor Properties
    17 Weapon Only Properties

    A bit of math;

    Now if one were to craft a weapon with a bronze runic hammer, giving 3 properties, you would be choosing 3 of these 26 properties.

    26 choose 3 = 2600, unique combinations, that is 1 weapon in 2600 attempts will result in a basic sampire weapon with the 3 core properties SSI, HSL and HML.

    To break that down even further, this means you will need to burn 74 Bronze Runic Hammers before you'll see even the most basic of Sampire weapons.

    Using an Agapite Runic Hammer yields 26 choose 4 = 14950 unique combinations. Of these, only 23 will result in the basic Sampire weapon in question. Broken down, that means you'll need to burn 26 Agapite Runic Hammers.

    Using a Valorite Runic Hammer, 26 choose 5 = 65780 unique weapons, and of these 253 will contain the 3 above said properties. Aka, 17 Valorite Runic Hammers... rounded down, of course, so I don't start cying.

    Let me summarize.

    Basic Sampire Weapon:
    74 Bronze Runic Hammers
    26 Agapite Runic Hammers
    17 Valorite Runic Hammers

    In conclusion, think carefully before spending a lot of time, effort and gold attempting to craft an uber Sampire weapon. Maybe it would be time better spent crafting a Crescent Blade with just HSL/HML (if you're swords like me), or if you can stomach it, a faster 1-Handed weapon.

    SSI would be dependent upon what weapon you are going to use. And what weapon you are going to use would depend upon what you are fighting:p

    I must have had good luck because I used 4-5 bronze hammers and got this gem of a radiant scimitar somewhere in the middle:
    HLA 40
    HSL 38
    HML 55
    DI 40

    With 160ish stam, I get full swing speed out of it without SSI. And I maintain that speed the whole time thanks to the SL.

    The above weapon worked wonders on soloing a demon spawn for the first two levels. I had a close call or two due to "targeting" issues but I was tearing the spawn up. If I could get the above weapon with demon slayer in place of HLA, I'd be stoked:thumbsup: I didn't push it past second level because I was doing an experiment.

    The above weapon also worked wonders for farming silver from demons. Spam lightning strike and no worries.
  3. All of this is incorrect, as you're not guaranteed to get the combination you're wanting, regardless of how many hammers you burn. The RNG determines which mods are on each crafted weapon, which means you could burn hundreds of hammers and never see the combination you want. Most people that have crafted their own weps have experienced this. My Twink took over 400 bronze and copper runics to make, while my Ornate axe popped out on my second hammer, and my rune blade on the 1st. There's just no way to determine how many hammers you'll burn trying for what you want.

    I've made some sick PvP weapons while burning bronzes on leafblades though. Burning hammers is fun.

    Yes, there is no guarantee that you'll get the hammer you're looking for. These are just some statistics. You could, in theory, get all three of these properties on your first swing of the hammer.

    If anything, I just wanted to put this out there for people to digest. For every person that claims to have made the perfect sword using only 1 Bronze Runic Hammer, there are another 73 people that didn't. You could be on the flip side of this and burn 400 hammers, and not get what you're after. It's a matter of chance, and my point is that those chances are very low.

    I may have also over exaggerated a bit, in the sense that there is not only 1 combination of properties that could suffice as a decent Sampire sword.

    If you're just starting out as a Sampire, and looking for a basic weapon to get you going; you're probably better off crafting faster weapons with lesser hammers. Just for comparison sake, if you were after only HSL & HML, the chances of getting this with a Shadow Runic Hammer are only 1 in 325, or about 7 Shadow Hammers. No you're not guaranteed to get one with those 7 hammers, but that's how many it would take on average.

    Gellor is a perfect example of this, HSL/HML, which is relatively easy to get. Now, wishing the 3rd property was Demon Slayer instead of HLA, puts him right into that 1 in 2600 boat.

    The dev's have said some properties have a higher chance that others. For instance Hit Area Damage is very rare.

    I also count only 24 properties:

    Elemental Damage (A second roll determines the spread)
    Slayer (Second roll determines the actual slayer)
    Hit Area (Second roll determines which of the 5 it is)
    Hit Spell (Second roll determines which of the 5 it is)
    Damage Increase
    Hit Life Leech
    Hit Mana Leech
    Hit Stamina Leech
    Hit Lower Defense
    Hit Lower Attack
    Lower Requirements
    Use Best Weapon Skill
    Swing Speed Increase
    Spell Channelling
    Mage Weapon
    Faster Casting
    Physical Resist
    Fire Resist
    Cold Resist
    Poison Resist
    Energy Resist
    Hit Chance Increase
    Defense Chance Increase

    The two I'm seeing on that link that don't count are Durability (I believe that's an automatic roll for each weapon) and night sight which doesn't appear on weapons.

    If all properties had an equal chance, the formula for getting 3 specific properties would be:

    (Number of total properties on the weapon) / 24 * (Number of total properties on the weapon - 1) / 23 * (Number of total properties on the weapon -2) / 22

    For a Valorite Hammer it would be (5*4*3)/ (24*23*22) = 1 chance out of about 202 or 13 Valorite Hammers. However, I just burned the equivalent of 6 Valorite Hammers on test, and I received 7 with HML and HSL, and 2 with HML, HSL, and SSI. *shrugs*

    I just jumped on the test center myself, and burnt 5 Valorite hammers. 2 of these were HML, HSL and SSI. Ironically, I got one of these within the first 15 attempts.

    If I had an infinite amount of time, I'd make lots of axes and find the real chances of getting each property.

    Clearly not all properties are rolled with equal chances.

    Based on your results, and my own.. I'd estimate the actual chances of crafting an HML, HSL & SSI weapon with a Valorite hammer to be about 1 in 41 uses. That is, about 3 Valorite hammers.
