Does enhancing weapons even work?

Okay, I'm guessing that enhancing weapons is not worth the effort to begin with. If I understand it right all you really can do is either add luck or move some of the damage around.

I tried to enhance a long sword I dropped tonight just to play with it. It was 100% physical damage so I wanted to move it around a bit. I picked Verite and enhanced it.

The item did not break, the title did not change, nor did the 100% physical damage. The only thing that changed is that I can no longer enhance the item.

So what did I do wrong or what do I not understand about enhancing weapons?

Nevermind, I just logged back into my smith and the sword has now been updated. Interesting but I guess enhancing weapons does work.
  3. yeah it sometmes takes a while to update the image. All enahncing does is to shift the damage type or add luck or add durability and lower the required strenght for an item (and lower you item count)

usually just moving the weapon after its been enhanced makes the changes show, this seems to only happen with smith nehanced weapons.
