    Night 1 of a multi-night event...

(Buccaneer's Den, Trammel) Lord Magnus Grey relayed news coming from the Commander of the Royal Guard -- Christine Keel -- regarding scout reports of fires in the seas near Trinsic and Jhelom. Additionally, Lord Grey spoke of a fire in the jungle believed to be coming from a small settlement near the Shrine of Honor known as Honor. "We have reason to believe this is pirate activity," Lord Grey indicated. The Royal Spies were ordered to investigate the settlement first, and then, preferably in the guise of pirates, visit Buccaneer's Den to further assess the situation. Before sending the spies on their mission, Lord Grey noted that Captain Sadie Rumswiller would be available for passage from Buc's Den if needed.

At the Honor settlement, Robert McFarland was discovered alive, having hidden as pirates killed or captured everyone in the village. He went on to say that the locals were said to be protected by a local merchant ship, and the attack confused him. The captain of the merchant ship, a red-head named Maggie, had recently visited with the mayor regarding local mining rights. The link, it appears, is that the pirates who attacked were declaring war against one Maggie the Red.

Once the spies had sufficient information, some travelled to Minoc to seek further information, while the rest travelled to Buccaneer's Den. A parrot in The Pirate's Plunder on the isle spoke of a smuggler called Redcap, while Sam the Swift introduced many of the spies to Calico the chef. Redcap himself was found in the Buccaneer's Bath, though was rather dismissive. Calico was able to provide information on several locals who led a handful of the spies to a weapons stash intended for delivery to Captain Smith, "The Pirate King."

The Royal Spies set sail with Captain Sadie Rumswiller to the intended delivery point whereupon they encountered a pirate settlement led by the Liar Queen, second of the Pirate King, Captain Smith. As chaos ensued in the form of a battle between the pirates and the spies, Royal Spy Ra'Dian Fl'Gith appeared focussed on continuing the ruse of being a pirate and complete the delivery. "Nobeard the Blue," Ra'Dian answered as the Liar Queen held his chin high with a scimitar, asking his identity. His furtherance of the pirate ruse led her to offer a job helping to stop another pirate captain, one Captain Maggie Keel, Maggie the Red.

Eventually the Royal Spies grew tired of deliberations, and attacked her. She threw Nobeard to the sand and defended herself, but she was clearly outnumbered. A nearby tome, found in her camp, indicated that orders would be left in a strongbox on the other side of the island each night over the next few nights.

Back in Britain at the Counselors Guild, Lord Grey debriefed the spies, and Royal Spy Galen drew the immediate connection between the Royal Guard Commander and Maggie the Red. "It's the Royal Guard Commander's mother, isn't it?" Galen asked, "Same last name." Lord Grey admitted that there were some references to the matter in the file on the matter. However, of more immediate note were the instructions that would be delivered nightly to the Liar Queen's camp.

Lord Grey asked for the assistance of the Royal Spies over the next few nights. On Wednesday evening, the orders will be delivered to the isle at approximately 7:00 PM (CDT), while on Thursday and Friday nights, they will be delivered at 8:00 PM (CDT). As Lord Grey explained, the situation is that "[t]wo groups of pirates are fighting, destroying the resources and allies of each other, but not yet directly fighting each other. For some reason, the merchants on Buc's Den are refusing to sell to these groups." Clearly, more information must be learned!
