Earlier today I made myself a trick or treating macro:
target nearest friendly > whisper "trick or treat" > wait for cursor > cursor target current

Put it on a hotbar, assigned the "G" keystroke to the hotbar button.

Worked absolutely fine and I ran around for a while collecting candy, got bored, went home to log out.
Hit ESC to bring up the menu, but instead, my vendor became an active target and I was told I can't get candy from him.
Hit ESC to clear the target but instead, the macro triggered again on the vendor.
Went outside, experimented with hitting the ESC key in various locations - if a friendly was nearby, the macro triggered, otherwise the menu came up as I would normally expect. Occasionally, depending on how far away the friendly was, I might get both the menu and the macro triggering.

(in case it's not clear from context, I'm on EC)
