Do I have to purchase the Enhanced client in order to use the expansion?
We can understand this confusion as in the original announcement of the Stygian Abyss expansion (over 3 years ago) we did say that the new client was the only way to get the expansion content. After, a lot of research and feedback from all of our players we decided to make the expansion available in the Classic Client (2D) as well.

The clients themselves (Classic and Enhanced) are FREE to use regardless of what expansion is enabled on an individual player’s account.

I've heard the terms Enhanced 2d Client, 3D Client, Special 2d client, and Enhanced Client. How many clients are there for UO?

Currently we only have the following:
    • Classic Client (formerly 2D)
    • Enhanced Client (formerly SA Client and still in Beta)
    • Kingdom Reborn
There is a special Classic Client out there that allows players access to the Open Beta shard. This should not be confused with the above clients.

Has the NDA been lifted? Can I spill the Beans?!?!
Yes the NDA has been lifted and you can spill the beans. Since the content is available for everyone you can talk about it freely. You may want to put a spoiler tag on just in case someone didn't want to hear any spoilers.

How do I get to the Stygian Abyss Areas?
There are special gates in New Haven that will allow players to access the Stygian Abyss areas. If you create a Gargoyle you will start in Ter Mur and have instant access to the new areas. And if you are a brave soul, you might try to traverse the underworld dungeon that leads from the old lands to the Stygian Abyss.

If I place a house on Retribution will I lose my house on my home shard?
You will not lose your house on your home shard. However, if you have placed a house on TC1 this house will be condemned.

    I can’t log into retribution what’s happening?
Most likely you are using the live version of the Classic Client (2D). In order to gain access to retribution you will need to use the Enhanced Client or download a special version of the Classic Client HERE. The Kingdom Reborn client is not able to connect to Retribution.

I've downloaded and installed the "Special Classic Client" but I don't see it in my EA folder. Where is it?
You are probably using vista, it's in Start Menu->Programs->Games

Will I be able to use the "Special Classic Client" once Stygian Abyss Launches?
No, as this client is only able to grant access to Retribution. Your current Classic Client will patch up with the new Content.

What's the difference between Client and Content?
Client: What you use to get into the game

This includes the User interface, macros, game settings, chat, paperdoll, ect...

    Content: Everything in the game.

This includes Quests, champspawns, facets, cities, NPCs, Housing, Crafting, PvM, PvP, ect..

Will the expansion be digital distribution only?
Yes. At this time the expansion and the client will be through digital distribution only.

How do I report a bug or provide feedback?
The best way to report a bug is through the Enhanced Client bug report feature. If you are using the Classic Client you are welcome to email [email protected] with the following information:
    • Your UO account name (do not include your password)
    • The time, date, shard, and facet of the occurrence
    • What steps you took that led up to the bug
    • Whether or not you tried to repeat the bug, and if you succeeded

This list will be updated regularly.

When will Stygian Abyss be available to purchase?
Stygian Abyss will be available on September 8th. If you purchase the expansion between September 8th and the 29th you will receive bonus items with your purchase. The items are:
    •Exclusive Gargoyle craftable pet
    •Decorative Stygian Abyss mob Statues
    •Multiple Gargoyle conversion tokens

Where can I purchase the Stygian Abyss Expansion? Can I purchase more than 1? And how much will it cost?
Players will be able to purchase the Expansion through the EA store. This method is recommended for individuals who wish to purchase more than 1 copy of the expansion for their accounts. The expansion will also be available through the UO Gamecode store.

The cost of the expansion for existing players will be $29.99. For new players it will be $39.99 and will include 1 month of game time and all of the previous expansions UO has released over the years.

Where can I find the system requirements for Ultima Online?
The system requierements for all of our clients can be found HERE

That part has many confused it seems there are certain things that are still off limits for beta testers to discuss. Is that true?
  4. Beer_Cayse

    Beer_Cayse Guest

Er, ... you can spill the beans - as quoted from Chrissay means you can speak of anything that is in the open beta. That amounts to a whole raft of things! No limits.

BTW - I hate NDA's but they are an evil that is necessary sometimes. With this lift I'm under 2. <sigh>
  5. TheGrayGhost

    TheGrayGhost Guest

So basically to the public there saying NDA is lifted tell them what you like while on private boards there saying, this stuff is still under NDA though! ?

Don't take this as complaining, I'm just as confused as I could possibly be. Chrissay says the NDA is lifted, someone posts something the Mods jump and say did you get approval?? The counter is "The NDA is lifted" the reply is "Only on stuff already in, threoretical things and things not yet in are still under NDA"

So ............... you can see why I just want someone official to either say everything is fine to discuss now the NDA is lifted or Yes the NDA is lifted but we are asking the beta testers to not to discuss some things.

There's a specific post on the private boards where it says the NDA was lifted. Someone said (not me) there were certain things that were still under NDA. This is false. I have posted in the thread once again to let the closed beta testers know that the NDA has been released. You can spill the beans there should be no confusion on this.

You can't have an NDA when you are in Open Beta ;)

WOot Thanks Chrissay, nice to have that cleared up!

Also, I would like to point out I wasn't trying to yank your chain on this ... it was to point out that an official EAMythic rep had cleared the path to talk about it all. That made it all good in the hood, ya know?

What still might be confusing some as well as me. Is that on the EA beta forum on the top it reads:

"What you read here, stays here."

Should this be taken out or does some type of NDA still exist for some theoretical content?

Will the 2D client have some of the different features that the classic client has?

The main one I speak of is the crafting menu that allows you to make ... insert number ... items?

Uh ... *points at FAQ above* : "Classic Client (formerly 2D)"

(the crafting menus will be identical between the classic and enhanced clients: currently max number / make max only show if you are logged into Retribution, when SA goes live you'll see them again)

Chrissay - could you elaborate (separate thread prolly) on how in the heck EA plans to bring in new players without retail sales presence? I would think it a good marketing practice to entice new blood into the arena.

I dont see whare she said what you wrote.

I do see that she wrote:

Will I be able to use the "Special Classic Client" once Stygian Abyss Launches?
No, as this client is only able to grant access to Retribution. Your current Classic Client will patch up with the new Content.

She says those features were in the "Special classic client"

And she says: Your current Classic Client will patch up with the new Content.

It sounds like we will not get the "Special classic client" since the "current client" will patch to the content.

She did not say the client will patch....

Also it sounds like 2D is now called the classic client. Not to be confused with the "special classic client".

So, again I ask, but Ill use the correct terms:

Will the classic client have some of the different features that the special classic client has?

The main one I speak of is the crafting menu that allows you to make ... insert number ... items?

    thank you :)

The classic (2D) client that was used to access the Retribution open beta server represents what the classic client (formerly known as the 2D client) will be patched to be when Stygian Abyss launches. I hope that helps :)

    Chrissay_ Guest

That will be something global that will happen when we launch Stygian Abyss. So in short yes your regular Classic Client will patch up to the crafting menu.
