did anyone see this today on msn?
In-Game - Man pays $16,000 for virtual sword
I have no words...
Wow. Thats a ton of money for a digital something. Could you imgaine if China bans the game?
Interesting way to advertise a game.
Make up a hoax about someone buying a $16,000 item in a game that hasn't even been released yet so people will watch the trailer.
Appears to be working.
Looks like a game worth giving a try. UO Meets Dynasty Warriors. I've always been interested in Ancient China and loved Dynasty Warriors.
As is stand right now with UO's lack of improvement with regards to improvement in graphics I'm getting very close to taking a hiatus until they get the graphics up to some higher resolution standard. They say they were working on it but the game still looks horrible. UOKR>EC.
Right now it seems no one is working on UO at all this game appears pretty much dead in the water.
lol Madrid... For some of us content > eye candy. I just don't get it. A "pretty" game is a great thing when there's content to back it up, but we all know that with UO adding content will happen & making it eye candy will not. Maybe I'm just old school but the days of pen & paper RPG's can't be beat. Nothing was better than a few friends / warm summer evening / nice covered porch & way to many cans of coke rolling around lol.
Not to completely derail this thread to take away from Age of Wulin which looks like a pretty good game and I will give it a try but...
From my limited perspective Ultima Online certainly has an attrition problem. UO is not getting an influx of new players to maintain solvency or better yet allow room for resources to be allocated(Devs/Coders) to push the game forward into the future. If shame is any indication of the future content we will be receiving I'm not impressed.
Atlantic even seems quiet to me these days and has much less active players there than a year ago. That's my perception I could be wrong but if I'm not that's not a good sign. Other shards that I play on same thing...barren.
"For some of us content > eye candy."
It may be good enough for you but I expect more and better. Certainly if UO wants to attract new players (which it needs to remain solvent) competing with the trailer listed in the article above UO doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell.
UO already has the content. Why many think the game can't have contemporary high resolution graphics I don't understand. The only reason I can see that UO can't have decent graphics is the fact that 2D users have sabatoged every single client that has been presented throughout UO's history.
What we had in terms of UOKR graphics was better than what we have now currently with the EC. Why the 3 steps backward and at the very least not an an option for us that want to play with those higher resolution graphics right now.
Yes I know they said they've are working on the graphics but the rate of progress is too damn slow. Six months ago they announced they were working on them and some were released last month but I can't tell a damn difference. And that's also a problem...everything added to the game seems to happen at a snails place as if there is no one working on the game. Look at what Pinco has done with the EC Client...this is one man working for free.
I don't want to be all Doom & Gloom I just don't think UO is getting the proper attention, if any it deserves.
I told myself I was going to give them until the end of the year on the issue of high resolution graphics before I start shutting down my accounts and exploring other games.
Graphics that were on par with UOKR need to be available at the very minimum right now. Hell there should be graphics available even better than UOKR! We've had a major regression in terms of the look and feel of the game and it's not doing anything to help UO in the long term.
Since it's almost year end I have to throw out the quote of the year: "continued support of the Classic Client is UO's mortal wound"!
Don't get me wrong I'm not calling for the dissolution of the CC Client. I think it should always be available to those jurassics that want to use it but there is no question that it's not pulling in new players nor is the EC with it's current graphics set and UI. Pinco's UI should be the default EC Client. EA/DEVs pay the man already.
Bigpoint sells 2000 virtual space drones for ?1000 each | Massively
Nothing new there...
This is old news. Solus probably spends more than that on UO.
The guys probley rich enough thats its just like us buying something from the game code store.
I see nothing wrong with this... so long as the item sold was legally obtained in game (i.e. non-duped/exploited) as well as the money to pay for it (i.e. not via CC fraud) and both parties are happy with the transaction, I don't see a problem.
I was beer cans at out house !
Why do people keep thinking these two aspects of a game are mutually exclusive... why won't people allow for UO to have BOTH?
Why SHOULDN'T UO take some time to update and upgrade the graphical experience since we have the gameplay to back it up? Is updating UO's environment from a eye-appeal aspect going to change it somehow into a level/Raid WoW clone?
