(High Seas) Put the world together

I am excited by the new High Seas expansion. One thing-

Can Britannia and Tokuno have contiguous sea's?

The geography of Ter Mur, Mala, and Ilshenar make them hard to connect but Tokuno could be to the west of Britannia.

No doubt this is way harder than it should be. I get that it might be hard, but it would be really cool. I feel like this would increase the immersion of the game, so if it is possible I suggest doing it.

Hm... "Void sailing" in Malas and Ter Mur seems slightly awesome :thumbup1:

I like this idea. I suppose it shouldnt be too hard to implement. Each facet is already split up into multiple servers so just change the parameters so when you move of the west side of britannia then you switch to a server on the east side of Tokuno instead of the east side of britannia. And vice versa of course.

Any tech heads care to comment if its much more technical than this?

Hmm... how big is Tokuno in comparison to Britannia?

If it's 1/2 - 2/3rds the size, then you COULD dump it maybe in the S/E or S/W side of Britannia then have the northern area to balance it out be an archaepelego of sorts (maybe the remains of a lost continent) but with plenty of room for ships to maneuver.

Oh we did not find tokuno for hundreds of years because we were too stupid to sail there before :p

Tokuno is one of Sosaria's 3 lost continents, it is the Lands of the Feudal Lords. It disappeared in the cataclysm that shattered the world when the Gem of Immortality was...well...shattered.

Void sailing, I was just thinking about that earlier, how cool it would be to have some sort of flying device aka "air boat" that you could use in the void.

Maybe something for some future expansion, where there could be void creautres like there are in the water.

I imagine it being like a mostly cloth "ship" with some sort of wood/cloth wings that might flap like a birds. they could be used to get to places you wouldnt be able to teleport or gate to.

At least expanding the serpent pillars to access Tokuno would be nice.

If they did that, what I'd like to see is an ability to change out the sail to a Magical Etherial Sail.

And with adding the ability to change sails, then add decorative sails for some choices.

Then add the ability for players to make their own decal, and buy the ability to put it in game, adjusted for slant like paintings were from RL paintings.

Then add the same ability to purchase your own designed flags and banners for houses, guild headquarters, player cities.

If that were possible, UO could charge a pretty penny to do it, with minimal work on their part. And they'd sell, I have no doubt about that.

Thats a very interesting concept, I love the idea of being able to choose a sail, or flag for your ship to set it apart, and customize it.

Could you imagine the decals people would design however?
Pornography ect. I woudlnt want to see adds in UO tacked up everywhere, or pornography pn the sides of homes, or **** sails. lol

Theoretically it wouldn't be to hard just to keep it with in-game stuff, and still have a very broad choice.

For example, have the flags/sails have the following choices:

    1. Middle-of-sail markings
    a. Faction-related insignia.
    b. Kingdom-related insignia.
    c. Any option currently available as a Banner Deed (requiring dying before applying the marking to the sail).

    2. Flags
    a, b, c: As sail markings

    3. Actual Sail background color
    a. Dyeable by any cloth-capable dye tub.
    b. Use of original ToT dyes requires 10 uses on the bottle (all 10 are consumed in the dying).
    c. ToT3 Dyes (and the ToT2 1-shot minors) and natural dyes would require an Alchemy/glassblowing equivalent of a scrollbinder, to combine 10 dyes together for the job (which itself would be useful for consolidating the ToT3 dyes to free up space in houses).

I bet Grimm would have a field day working on this, if he could find a programmer to assist on the system aspects.

I like that, Basara. A lot.
The flags could be mounted on a ship mast too. This would give an added bit of custom options, as the sails could be left more generic. Flags could also be mounted on a pole on houses, above the house sign, and elsewhere on poles placed in the house, as well as on the banners. Flags could also be placed on spears, to carry into battle, and planted like the flags in the recent "Bane Chosen" battles.

You basically going with the idea of a medieval Crests, using fields and symbols. I'd expand that a little.
I think a personal marking in the middle, and then a 4 point circle around that for either fact, kingdom, or another personal choice. Maybe add a virtue choice here as well.

Lots of in game art might be chosen for use. Anything from monsters to reagents to items to decorations. The gryphon(?) snow statues would be an ideal choice, hued to a variety of colors. Other options that I think would work really well...
    Lanterns (see my guild sig)
Shields ---Shields! Shields need Crests too!
    Ship models
Tools of crafting (hammers, scribe pens, etc.)
    Whatever, lots of things.
