I have some questions about Miasma

I'm running against Miasma right now as (lol) a Sampire. I've watched vids, researched stuff, but am trying to find out if Miasma was secretly buffed at some point that I'm not aware.

I'm not maxed on everything just yet, but right now my skills are:

    109 Swords
    101 Bushido
    110 Parry
    100 Tactics
    99 Necro
    61 Chiv
96 Resist (It's a weird number because swords /bushido / parry arent done yet, so its slowly pulling points out of it).

I have 80 Spirit Speak on a soulstone that I can swap with Resist Spells, haven't tried it yet though.

I think I have about 40 or 45% DCI right now. My resists are either 50-60 across the board, except for poison and fire which are both 40 while in Vampire form.

Ok so here's my dilemma! Mortal wound isnt a problem. But everything I've read, and every video I've watched, has not placed a big importance on Miasma's poison. That poison absolutely melts my face. Sometimes the fight is ok if he's a low-heal Miasma, and usually then I just don't get poisoned. But this is rare, and more times than not I can't kill him because I have to run out and start honoring snakes and rats just to keep my health maintained.

So, am I doing something wrong? Should I switch out Resist for SS so I can use Curse Weapon as well? I'm trying to get more poison resist, I already think that might be an issue. But other than that, what could I be doing wrong? I never have trouble hitting him, ever. And when he hits me I'm usually ok, and can just life leech it back to full in 2 hits.

Anyone got any input on how I can make this easier, and more farmable?

    Where's your anatomy?

Try a scorp slayer. EoO and consecrate weapon. Also lightning strike always. that'll max out your damage so you can 3 shot it. If you start getting low on health, use confidence right after you take poison damage. That'll heal you right up.

I'm not using Anatomy. I haven't seen very many samp builds that utilize it. But I plan on getting Resist / SS / Anat all to 80 so I can just switch them around when needed.

I haven't tried a Scorp Slayer yet, but I'm already doing EoO + Consecrate + Lightning. Scorp slayer make that much of a difference?

If you're a non-healing sampy, you have anat, resist and maybe SS to switch out with.
You shouldn't be running SS or resist against miasma.

    Slayer yes.
It makes enough that I'm never -20 below my max HPs. I consider it a damage 'buffer'. while you're pretty much at your damage cap using EoO, without a scorp slayer using and Ornate Axe, I do usually 80 or so damage per hit. With scorp I'm hitting for over 100 damage eat hit with 250+ hits on crits.

I dunno, the poison never seems to be any issue at all.

So are you just using an imbued Ornate Axe or something then?

I should really make a mule and level up imbuing..
  6. BeefSupreme

    BeefSupreme Guest

Yeah, thats what I use for Miasma now.
Although when I first started out I was using a Soul Seeker on everything except undead of course. Then I made a radiant scimitar scorp slayer for miasma, then an ornate.

Just about anything 1v1 I'm using the ornate, although there are some situations where a daisho is preferred. Mobs get the scimitar for the whirlwind. Course you need serious stamina to really use an ornate, I'm just impatient and want things dead quicker than a scimitar can get me.

Would you mind telling me the stats on your Ornate?

I'll craft one up and try to find someone to mimic it. =]

    I use a radiant scimitar:

    Arachnid slayer
    44% HML
    44% HSL
    45% DI
    25% SSI (I think)

Also - keep Consecrate Weapon up unless you have a sword with good energy damge.

The key for me is that as long as I am fighting Miasma and poisoned, I am OK, because of the life leech. If I stop fighting, then that 50 damage every 5 seconds can kill me quickly. So, once Miasma is dead, I case Cleanse by Fire to heal the poison. Or, if Miasma spawns really quickly again, I just resume fighting and healing.

Damage for me with CW is about 70-90 a hit, with about 120-130 on the critical strikes. These are about 1 in 5 hits at 120 Bushido.

With this setup, I can stay with Misama indefinitely, until my sword wears out or I am overloaded with treasure chests.

    Good luck!

    Ok, the ornate has
    Scorp slayer
    HML 40
    HSL 40
    SSI 30
    DMG Increase 49

40% DMG is fine enough, the 49% was the result, because I was burning hammers until I got the SSI.

The speed at which at least named spawn, depends on how quickly they are killed. When you're 3 shotting miasma, after the first couple or three, a new one will spawn right after you have killed it. Shouldn't be more than a 3 or 4 second wait.

Spec considerations aside, You have a catch-22

You say the poison melts your face off, but you should be hitting often enough and for enough damage that you leech through the poison and mortal.

    • At 109 swords you're going to miss a lot more than you would at 120
    • With lower bushido you're not getting criticals as often so you will do less dmg

These 2 things are both going to contribute to not being able to leech enough health to stay alive.

I think once your skills get higher you’ll do much better – consider training skills up on something else and checking back every 5 pts of skill gain.

Don’t feel bad, my Sampire has died about 10x to Miasma and has only killed her once. I need tweaks done as well.

That poison bite Miasma gives off can be really hard to get thru sometimes. It will keep you on your toes or give you a fast dirt nap if your not leeching enough health from vamp form. The 4 steps i go thru with Most of the ML major bosses are as follows...1 always Honor them. 2 Enemy of One if they are alone. 3 Concecrate Weapon 4 lightning Strike. those 4 steps have got me thru Dread Horn and Chief Paroxysmus. Miasma is a pain because you never know when that one poison strike is going to come that sucks down chunks of health. Ive seen it happen in non Paragon ones and paragon dont make or break the toughness of Miasma. when Miasma hits you with that poison strike go right to confidence and back to lightning strike for a better chance to hit. If you dont leech health back on the next hit put up evasion. This is where you need to CCW and then go back in with another lightning Strike. My health bar see saws when im doing the ML peerless bosses and if im not in a rythem and ready for whats to come its over fast. I learned the hard way to never run away from them thinking i would escape the dirt nap.Get your honor up as high as you can..HLD/DI/HCI/DCI..all of these things need to be worked in. keep your stamina Up at all times..but dont forget to save that mana for confidence. I always feel soo much better with my stamina and mana high in reserve then my health. The reason why is because i have nobody to blame but myself when i die with all the ways to leech, bandage, chug or cast spell. Even my Ornate Axe with 53ML 49SL 43 DI SSI 30 lets me down when my Mace and shield Glasses are in the shop for cleaning.
  13. From what you've said it sounds like your Poison Resist is the problem.

I agree with Lord G. If your resists are 50-60 as you stated then that's why poison is kicking your butt. You also may want to consider training your swords up to 115 before going back. Your weapon skill is the primary determinant on whether you get hit or not. I personally would hit Yomatsu Mines and you'll be 115 quick on warriors. You don't have to have a slayer if you are able to honor, EOO, and CW. But you do need 100 DI and 1.25s swing rated (based on your stamina and total SSI). If you can't get an honor off then that slayer will come in handy.

I agree with the above, your poison is too low.

You really only need phys and poison at 70 for miasma.

    Gauntlets of nobility
    Crown of harrower
    Legs of bane

They all have high nox, and since they are not Mage armor, generally speaking, are not in high demand.(see relatively inexpensive)

When you are poisoned and it's ticking off 35+ every 3 secs you should be able to keep up with that, however, your low(ish) weapon skill means miasma will hit you as well. That means death. Good luck.

yikes I didnt notice him say his poison was at 40

def need 70 phys/poi and you should have swords as high as you can as it determines your chance to hit and to be hit. 109 is too low
