Over the next week or so, it's because my father passed away suddenly Tuesday - he had a 4 inch long aneurism of the artery carrying blood from the heart towards the legs, just below the kidney. He was in the hospital being examined when it let loose (it was apparently leaking, causing him discomfort to that point), so they were able to operate, but they ran of of fresh blood and had to resort to frozen units, and they couldn't warm them quick enough. It ended up being the hypothermia from the cold blood lowering his core temp into the low 90s that got him, as the surgery itself was successful. Perhaps it was a mercy that he didn't wake, as it ws likely that he'd have lost most use of his legs from the lack of oxygen during the hours it took to get him prepped and operate, and he pretty much lived on his feet (car salesman & avid fisherman). Being in a wheelchair would have been a living hell for him.
