Are you serious DEVs???
Yes, they're serious
Imbuing blows monkey chunks. I'm buying millions of gold worth of jewels.
I'll tell you a joke, it's a riot.
This guy was at the soulforge. His friend buys the skill, and he says "You can kill dragons to get the jewels for this skill." If he kills dragons every minute he plays for the rest of his real life he won't get enough to get this skill to 120.
BTW it looks like we're going to suck when we get to 120 too. I'm not all that far away, and its looking pretty bad.
They make it so unravel only can get back "1" magical residue.
So means I have to hunt 100 monsters for 100 magical residue and use them all up in 2 mins???
ARE YOU SERIOUS??
Hope my testing is wrong...
I think 120 imbue will be worth it for many people who can't get the valorites or heartwood for making their uber items.
Just don't aim for the 50 50 50 50 50 mods then you'll be fine with imbue.
i agree.. and as it is now i been making bows to unravel out of oak wood i have a 100% exceptional sucess but out of 300 boards sometimes i get 83 residue and its been as has as 107 and they want to take that away??? for what?? am i supposed to take my crafter with no skills and go fight monsters to get a few items to unravel into 4 or 5 residue and maybe 1 or 2 essence?
how would i gain then?
suppose next they will take away the npc jewelers??
i dont understand??
also this skill doesnt seem to be a big money maker.. i want to make a bow, 30 ssi, 50 hml, 50 hld, 50 hsl, 40 di
its going to cost me over 100m to find all the required items to make this bow... and it cant be repaired more then 255 times??
I'm kinda glad I hit Legendary last week
I disagree. I've made over 100 million just by selling imbued jewels alone.
there is some very very easy ways to get magical residue
I can do 200 in under 10 mins.
Think about it... the answer is looking you dead in the face.
gems on the other hand, is painful
**** this, this is horrible. Not even to 80 yet.
to get residue... just craft daggers with runic hammers (dull, shadow are easy to get and/or cheaper), or bows with runic fletcher kits (oak, ash), or clubs with runic dovetails (oak, ash) and then unravel those weapons.
yes but those are hella expensive.. alot more expensive then wood.. that you chop yourself.
what kind of mods you putting on them?
i been asking around and nobody wants to buy anything i can make for them lol.
It's simpler to mine the gems up you know.
A skill for making items with magical properties that can rival a lot of those vastly expensive items we were buying from vendors. And we complain about it being hard and expensive to train?
The problem is that the cat is out of the bag - there are people already at 120. Making it harder now just gives those people a longer monopoly over the high-end market (assuming that they're into selling their wares).
That said, I'm having a lot of fun training just by imbuing monster loot - every pack of loot is like a little puzzle box trying to figure out the best choices to imbue for the least cost without spending all day calculating it out. Yes, it's slower than grinding it with a crafter, but I'm finding it rather stimulating and entertaining.
( 100.2 so far on a brand new character living out of his bank box )
i applaud them for making imbuing harder. people should NOT have been able to reach 120 in two days. i don't care how 'hard' they pressed their macros. if imbuing is as powerful as i've been hearing, it ought to take months to legendary it.. and it should cost millions.
It's too late. They are already 120.
Went to test center and tried to unravil Small platemail Jingasa, will not let you.
Understand that Oak bows with 40 luck and 45 DI is only giving 1 now on Origin.
Test center 15% LRC is still 3 Magical Residue and 7 amber same on Origin (post patch) and Baja (pre patch).
Test center luck 19 is still 1 Magical Residue and 1 citrine same on Origin (post patch) and Baja (pre patch).
Also checked Test Center and Baja for succes %, both are 75.1 at the smith shop with Imbuing at 98.3.
Looks like they just reduced the amount of resources you get from GM bows and droped GM made Small platemail Jingasa giving resources. Not sure if they changed loot.
Back to making Small platemail Jingasa on Baja before the patch.
Test Center is a good place to go before you panic.
are you saying that I can make jingasa and unravel to get residues?
I think I need to make a few mille of them before publish then.
Until now I have mainly killed stuff to get residues.
Residue, shmesidue. What I really need are essences. Lots more essences! It takes 600 to get a 120 scroll, and I need two 120 scrolls so I can swap imbuing around between my crafter and my new, second crafter. Maybe I'll just ignore the fun new content and do lots of level 6 t map chests this week...
You do not required imbuing to unravel ur loot, jut carry a bag unravel Magic Item bag, head for the forge with your fighter and Voila. I have been hunting all week, Ur umbuyer only give you a bit more change to get extra residue.
No ... you need 50.1 imbuing for unravelling essences and 95.1+ for unravelling relics.
when training imbuing DO NOT, cycle an expensive(mat wise) stat, do other stats to make difficulty approx 60% with a minimum in another stat, preferably one using one of the cheaper gems and a residue.
and remember to change item when you get system message its been imbued to many times and gains have been deminished cause they you really wont gain almost at all.
another hint from Petra's Guide to imbuing which i can warmly recommended is higher skill imbue these i forget what they are called, Saronate or so plate armor which is also mage armor (which count as property weight and thus gets difficulty up before its imbued) so one less to imbue and waste materials on with out gain and one more potential gain on a cheap try.
you can find the complete guide by petra on the "UO Craftsman" Subforum "Datasheet" or similar, cant recall forum names 100% accuratly.
the funny thing is that because I have killed Demons while hunting to get residues I have laso build up a good pile of essences...
You could send a brave slayer to a Demon spot, make sure you get the free luck from luck stattue and start farming Demons.
You should build up a good pile of essence for 120 scroll really fast,or faster than the T-maps anyway.
I think they should have left it as it was. Imbuing is expensive as hell to train. With the amount of gold that gets spent just on gems to blow through, you could buy every single val hammer crafted armor piece you need in Luna to outfit several characters.
And this is supposed to equalize things for newbies?
Yeah, right. The old Dallas Cowboy's stadium is for sale. I'll give you a hell of a deal on it....
600 essence for 120 scroll? its 50 relics for 120 imbuing, 50 essence for 115 and 50 residue for 110.
unless there is something i should know about turning essence into relics?
With a scroll binder you can turn 12 115 scrolls into 1 120 scroll. 600 essences is still easier for me to get than 50 relics.
You can use a scroll binder to combine the 115's into a 120. It's cheaper and easier to use Essence to do this with.
Sarsmi- Once you get up around GM level, the items you'll be making will be giving back essence and not residue, so you'll get the amount you need in no time.
10-115 scrolls + scroll binder = 120 imbuing scroll
i got you, i didnt even think about that.. i could have done that awhile ago lol..
instead i just got a 115 scroll to use.. thinking id get a 120 when i got my skill up.
wich might take a very long time so im not in a hurry anyway
I guess I'll worry about that later then, I just wanted to eat the 120 ASAP in order to get better gains.
It might be a good investment to grab a 110 scroll for just that reason, then get the 120 once you have the amount of essence you need. I grabbed a 115 right off the bat, but I had a whole mess of high end items to unravel, so I started with 300 or so essence.
Yah I ate a 110 already, MR is cheap. I was even turning it into more 110's to turn them into 115s, but thats a really long drawn out process. Not going to do it anymore!
Im so into the imbuing that I have forgot all old methods of gaining in skills.
Must have been a really long time since I trained a skill.
*notes to fix at least 110 scroll*
I guess you get them by doing quests?
Do you always get a scroll?
Might as well get a 115 scroll if that only involves enchanted and no relics.
The 3 NPC's that stand around the soulforge in the Farmer's Market each give a quest for one of the scroll types. The one at the south corner is 110, the one at the north corner is 115 and the one at the east corner is 120 (iirc). You also have a chance at getting a runic tool for crafting stone armor/weps.
I will fix that before imbuing training tonight.
Time for coffe break.
not working anymore
Which part? Anything made by a runic should still be able to be unraveled.
This is a bummer.
I would like to see imbuing be one of the easier and less costly skills to train, especially as it appears to be expensive and difficult to actually use at the highest levels.
Maybe resources should be a little more scarce, but how does increasing the difficulty of training benefit the game?
I think you're wrong on this. In fact, I know you are as I'm making, then unraveling, items made from oak, and am still getting the same amount of residue. I think the change they made is probably with crafting items that give back more residue than was used to make them.
Its definitely working I've just unraveled 100 gm made daggers.
Ok I am only at 68 imbuing right now, so is it better for me to eat the 110 or the 115 at this point.
The farmer nash quest is great collecting items to unravel. I filled five unravel bags with 50 items ea. in about an hour last night.
As of 8 am on Great Lakes I am still unraveling Oak Bokuto's to Residue.
And to correct the numbers in this thread - you can turn in 10 x 115 scrolls for a 120 scroll. So it takes 500 Essence to do so - not 600.
Which makes me think the person on GL trying to sell a 120 Imbue scroll for 20 million is insane. I"ll sell you a 120 imbue scroll for 10 mil right now.
Yes. Any time you have a PS for a skill, it's better to use it at the beginning of training for skill gain purposes.
I tried that this morning. I can still get more residue by crafting and unraveling oak bokutos than by any farming. Miasma might be faster, but someone would have to loot while the other did the killing. I might see if I can find someone that wants to team up for a few hours and split whatever we get.
well I tried to unravel oak bokutus 5 min ago on Europa.
It didnt work.
I tried inside unravel bag and from the menu.
Did I do anything wrong or are we brave Europeans screwed?
retried it now.
And it worked !
Well,I know why now.
Check to make sure you won't be overweight with the residue that would be created. It won't let you unravel anything if it will put you overweight, and it doesn't tell you if it won't do it, it just doesn't do anything. Try again with less weight and it should work.
Desperate for magic residue, I went through my DC hammers, and then my shadows.....going into my copper hammers and found this.....off 40 daggers made with it I recieved:55 magical residue and 29 enchanted essence.....
they also have to be exceptional
so how exactly did imbuing get harder and more expensive? its just like before for me, on sonoma (yes we have pub 60,1) I can still turn my oak boards into residue, the ingred costs are the same, i can unravel all the same old things. my fighting characters can still unravel thier magic loot to residue. alls good!
you can still 120 imbue with out spending a dime as well. mine your metal for base items to imbue, mine gems to train, lumberjack oak for residue, totally self sufficient.
