After a couple of years, maybe more than a couple, I am returning to UO. I quit shortly after Trammel came out, but am looking forward to seeing how things have changed. My old account is active and I should have the client dled this weekend.

I am wondering how and where the most pvp action takes place? Is it just red vs blue, factions or guild wars? Also would be interested in knowing how the pve has advanced some.

I'm looking for some guidance in learning how the game has change. My old characters I'm sure are still good, but can probably use some tweaking. Also wondering how the new skill progression system works.

I have a mage/macer, archer, theif/dexer, scribe/alchem and smith/tinker. Hoping there is a guild or group of people that will show me the ropes. I am trying to recruit a couple of friends, some who used to play and some new ones, but figured it would be good for me to get going so I can help their transition be enjoyable and smooth.

Please PM via the forums. Thanks!

Oh dear...you have so much to learn!!

I dont mean that in a bad way, i just mean SOOOO much has changed

Skills can now be scrolled, using powerscrolls obtained from felluca champ spawns, all the way to 120. Unfortunatly, this means that the gm skills are no longer nearly effective enough in pvp [well most].

Equipment has changed drastically [there is now some!], Lower reg cost, Lower mana cost, Mana Regen, Faster Casting, Faster cast Recovery...and the list goes on.

Unfortunatly you are on one of the most hyper inflated shards in uo...basic average suits will run into the millions and great armour suits could be up and beyond 50mil.

PvM has changed [although the loot hasn't much] but thats easy to pick up in a few hours.

Looking at the templates you mentioned, they can still be effective [except the thief tbh...insurance :() Your smith will be the one you need to change the least...and your macer mage/scribe alchy...well there are hundreds of different combos now.

Welcome back, hope you find a good group to learn. I Myself dont play atlantic much, im mainly on GL.

Thieves are still effective, I made one summer of last year and have played it almost exclusively since. It's not like it used to be, and you may not like it now compared to before insurance, but the basic thief template still works.

Of course, it all depends on what your goals are as a thief ;)
