Firstly may we extend our sincerest empathy for those in Great Lakes who were brutally traumatized by the recent events in their shard.

Being one of the most progressive shards in UO certainly you do not deserve this to happen. No matter if the incident was caused by man or machine. The fault lies on those who run the game and their apparent negligence.

For the first time as I have read on other related threads lost items do and can be returned. Although this to me is a relief to know it is also disheartening to realize that under the shadow of previous experiences returning just lost items was anathema to UO.

It is not only outrageous but simply deplorable that people have to deal with account hacking, scripters, dupers and now mass disappearances on the heart of the commercial district.

When the news broke out my first reaction is that maybe it was part of a surprise Shadow Lord attack. I had a character there to see what was going on and sure enough the people of GL were all quite distressed each one checking house to house if everything was still intact.

Then it struck me wow this is the real thing here. Obvious that nobody knew what was going on I dared not ask questions anymore and left. After that was a deafening silence in spite of all the cries of people who were on the point of hysteria.

Unfortunately there was no 911 number to call pressing help just places you on queue. To summarize it was one big testosterone raising experience.

Then came the UO Herald announcement of the revert. I saw it and was just wondering the flash didn't hit the top headline on the forums, I posted immediately to bring it to everyone's attention. The rest is now history.

This experience will surely go down the books more so to the affected people of Great Lakes as a day of infamy for UO.

May we all find what we possess in this game still there when we log in the next time around. Otherwise this is merely a game of Stargate or Time Warp combined.

    A New Game Anyone?

    "brutally traumatised"?

You are kidding me right? This is a game for christs sake! Anyone who was
"brutally traumatised" by this incident needs to seek professional help immediately and never go near UO again for as long as they live.

I seriously doubt that anyone was "brutally traumatised". Anyone who says they were are either prone to extreme exaggeration or need to get a life.

I think it's meant to be something between satire & Socratic irony. At first I thought it was in-character but there are too many references to UO as a game.

Tetris is a game, siphon filter is a game, silent hill is a game,etc.. Ultima online is one of the first mmorpg 11+year old game where not only players play but there family as well. Players have met and married in real life from ultima online. It's old enough to be passed down to the original players childrean.
So it has to be qualified as more than a game maybe a tradition or legacy or something else.
Though we have heard of people dying of gaming 72 hours straight plaiyng ffs In UO there is a good chance that people will die in there old age holding there mouse while on there death bed.
Uo is different for everyone. From just a passing intrigue to a lifelong addiction passed down to each new generation.

What is this nonsense? I thought there was a revert, the problem was solved and nothing was lost (except some online time maybe). Where is the problem?

Much as I love this game, I don't think my dying words will be "I wish I spent more time in UO"..:loser:

Let's forget about the players on GL for now I feel nothing but pity for you for your callousness.

It would be useless to filter out any other obscene remark and let this kind of remarks go unabated you know.
