    Hello all,

I am a somewhat new player and have been familiarizing myself with ruleset on Atlantic.

That being said, this shard sounds interesting and challenging.

Would I be totally out of my league starting a character here?

If not - how about a stealth archer? Seems like hiding / stealth could be a good survival utility.

There's a big support network to usher you into the culture. You'd be fine. :)

Join NEW2, Newborn on Siege and get some protection and help your first month.
Siege is a very peaceful place vs Atlantic year 1097, where I started, before Trammel rules was added to the game

If you ever thought you'd like to have lived in the Old West, try Siege. It feels different here. A player can carve out a reputation for themselves or live in solitude. The smaller population on Siege allows you a chance to become known for who you are; good, bad, helpful, considerate, hateful -whatever you want to be, you can be on Siege. Welcome, stranger.

Reminds me of Carlsbad Caverns, after walking quite a while and going down -800 ft elevation from the entrance, you're greeted by a gift shop. LOL

To answer the OP, you'll be fine on Siege. Being new, exploring is probably going to be a lot of fun, and stealth will be your friend to explore the unknown (and also recover your corpse from a Paragon camping it) ;-)
