I emailed and spoke to EA customer service representative today about reactivating an old uo account.

    Here is the situation:

My old email [email protected] was linked to the account. I since moved and the old email is no longer active. Now when you jump on the EA website to retrieve the password is sends the password to the inactive email.

He said he couldn't give me my account name or password or anything. I offered to answer any security questions he might have but wasn't able to help.

It's pretty baffling to me how they're unable to help me in account name and password retrieval. How do they expect people to reactivate old accounts when people have moved and emails change?

Anyhow is it me or is this is kind of ridiculous. Also has anyone experienced something similiar and found a way around it?

Yep, I had the same problem when trying to reactivate my account. The way I got around the issue was to keep plugging away at it with old passwords until I found the right one. It sucked, but it finally worked.

EA India errrr "customer service" were completely unhelpful.

i was able to reopen an old account before giving them all the Credit card numbers it was payed with for.
Also may want to try if they will look into it if you have all the game keys that where used to create or update the account.

Yup, it was the original CC that worked for me on one of mine. Keep calling back, you might find someone helpful. *shrugs*

If you have the original CD key that the account was created with, you might want to try emailing support with that information and they should be able to get your account back to you. At least, that's what they did with me over a year ago. I'm not sure if things still work the same.

Hail: Here is what i did. "Hi EA Rep, I was sent here from your web site, and the forum, and was told to call you to reactivate an old account of mine". You make it sound like this is what the Rep higher ups told you to do.

    Account name.
    Opened about when, and where.
Name of bank used for payment.
Any current account information you have. This shows you are still playing the game, really have moved, and have new visa, e mail, address, ect.

I got an 9 year old account, reactivated over the phone, without knowing the old e mail, password, visa #, or cd code used. It took about 15 min on the phone, but they e mailed it to my new/current e mail. As long as you make it sound like, "You are suppost to help me reactivate my account", The Rep should be more responsive, instead of sounding like you want him to go out of his way to help you. Goodluck.

I was in the same situation (I did know my account name though, but not the password)... and to be honest, it just takes a combination of the right EA rep and a little "social engineering."

Especially since the old account was linked to an ISP, your name was your email address, which IMO gives you another layer of identification.

My situation was the account was started on a comcast.net account, then I switched providers and it was under a mi.rr.com account, then I relocated and it was finally under, then cancelled under a cfl.rr.com account (I relocated once more and dont have access to ANY of those email accounts!). I didnt even know what the exact name of the email accounts was, but I told him it was probably my first initial and last name... after small talking him for a few minutes and mentioning being excited to come back I asked if he could just set a new email address for the default and I could just use password recovery.

    He did, and Im back.

I would suggest calling back a few times till you get a helpful rep, and bearing in mind (not to imply you did otherwise) the addage about catching more flys with honey than vinegar. ;)

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. You guys were right about the approach and getting the right EA Representative. They did find one of my accounts just not the one I thought it would be.

I spoke to two EA Reps today and they were both very helpful. One gave me the account and password for the account with the old inactive email but it wasn't the one I was looking for..there is one actually older circa 1997 when I didn't have Cable Modem up but I can't remember my email address or username on that account for the life of me.

The other Rep I spoke with went above and beyond searching through the database trying all kinds of names and passwords I thought might be associated with my old original account from 97'.

However the first Rep I spoke with yesterday literally lied when saying he couldn't retrieve my password...now I know that for a fact. That guy should be fired straight up. :scholar: I'm trying to give money to the company he works for whose providing him with a living.

So EA does have some good reps but that also have at least one VERY BAD one.

Thanks all for the advice and feedback. I probably wouldn't have called again this morning if you guys didn't tell me if could be done.

Thank you for another worthless post. You do realize that the code you used to create your account CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE right? So if someone does manage to sell their original CD, the seller probably doesn't want their account or the buyer just wants the disc for the sentimental value.

EA gave me the info for my original account when I gave them my CD key because the account was inactive for over one year.
