Re-Subbed to UO after 10+ years.

So I resubbed to UO after not having played it for over 10yrs. When I logged into my character on Siege, he was a ghost but in Minoc so it was easy to find a wandering healer and revive him.

I have a few questions now if I may.

First, back when I played in 1998-1999 I started my character off as a crafter to hopefully make some money. I had a great little house just outside Britain (which is gone) and was selling GM armor/weapons I made.

Currently, my guy has 100 in smithing. Is smithing a good trade or is it kind of pointless right now?

    My other skills are:

    100 - Blacksmithing
    100 - Swords
    100 - Tactics
    100 - Parrying
    77.8 - Resisting Spells
    92.7 - Anatomy
    77.9 - Healing
    47.9 - Archery
    8.7 - Focus

    100 - Str
    92 - Dex
    38 - Int

I have no clue what is a good template anymore. Is swords even a decent skill on Siege right now?

Any hints on what I should be working on would be really appreciated.

Welcome back to UO. Smithing is still useful, however most wear leather armor now. Imbuing is another skill you may want to read up on. Check out the guilds Seige has to offer and join one. That's the best and fastest source of info. Quite a few play this shard daily and can answer your questions. Good luck!

first of all welcome back to uo!
siege is the closest you can come from how you know the game compared to everything you find on prodo shards that changed until today.
about templates it depends what you are looking for, if you are into PvP you will surely find some follow up posts with suggestions.
a lot of players use hiding/stealth on siege; stealth is a skill that enables you to move while being hidden (hiding at lvl 80 to use it successfully). protects you from thieves and pk's. you get unstealthed - visible as soon as you do a negative action to another player or using some skills.

I'd suggest you to contact NEW, the guild on siege that helps players to get back into the game or get used to siege when converting :)
Shalimar is the GM (Elaine on icq# 9626593) also have a look at the webpage www.siegeperilous.net

smithing is fine for weapons but you might want to go with tailoring as leather armour is the only one worn nowadays.
you can make some good money with selling resources too.
ask away here and you will find some help to get started again.

Welcome back to UO, glad to see another returning to Siege. 10+ years, wow how things have changed, lol. Have fun relearning, should make it all the more fun for ya.:)

If your lookin for some quik ways to make some cash, try collecting cotten/wool for cloth or collect leather, especially the colored variety. Spined (lizardmen)Horned(drakes) and Barbed (dragons) It also drops off alot of other beasts, just used the common ones for reference. Both cloth and leather are great sellers.

Good Luck and again....Welcome back! :thumbup1:

    Welcome back!

Interesting setup there. Before dropping any skills you have that are at or near 100, I'd suggest you look up soulstones and put your skills on those instead of dropping them. Blacksmithing is useful, but primarily only with imbuing. People rarely use blacksmithed goods by themselves.

In terms of what you want to do with a template, I always ask back what do you want to do? Do you want to be a mage, crafter, warrior, archer, bard or tamer? Then do you want to pvp or not? Based on your answer to those two questions, we can help you out with a few useful templates.

There is a free loot crate in Barter Town, north of Minoc.
