Recall mining

I've wondered this, since the ore spots were randomised.
Back when they were fixed, it made sense for people to recall to specific spots.
Right after the randomisation, it made a little sense, since people would be set in their ways,
But now... I can't see a logical reason for it. If you're doing it without scripting, then it strikes me that the recalling part of it would actually be considerably more of an inconvenience than walking 8 steps.

But, I hate cheating accusations, especially without all the facts...
So, is there something I'm missing about recall mining?

They don't have fire beetle or packies?

I've seen maybe one or two in the past with fire beetles.

So, they're either recalling to a drop-off, or to a forge.
It just seems so convoluted, which leads me to think they're either scripting, or I'm missing something.

maybe spots with a huge pay-out? Also spots stay with a rare ore for some time *shrugs*

Spots that give a high ratio of coloured ore, as that is the thing that do not change. I have a runebook with a few as well, and also spots where I can reach many veins at once.

    Isn't that generally random?
I've never looked into it, but I've always assumed it was pretty much a coin toss between colour/iron.

I will have to look into that.
Although for the purposes of my mining, it seems to be quantity over quality.
Another 11 crystalline blackrock down... EC is superior for mining, but it's still boring.

Ok i still recall mine! Why?

    1. I have now made a book with spots that give a high colour % compared to most, this way when i hit a Val vein i get more of it.

    2. I mine 5-6 tiles either side of where i recall in to, which means if i walk 8 tiles i am not guaranteed to hit ore and may have to try a few tiles up, do this 10 times and mining takes a lot longer than it should.

So in summery, Its faster and i get a bigger payload of Colour ore this way.

And i get a GM turn up every now and then (3 times in the last month) asking if im scripting, this is because people just dont understand why i recall around and/or people just like to cause trouble for others.

Edit: One last thing, I allso mine in fel so recalling around reduces the risk of a PK following me and giving me a hard time.
