Sampire owned by caster spawns.. help

So my little newbie sampire kicks serious arse against melee only monsters, but I’m having a lot of trouble with any spawn which has casters.

Even the trick where I honor myself, or if I exit the spawn and work my way back in, is VERY tough. and I die. I even die to lvl 3 Rat mages and lvl 1/2 undead.

I spent an hour or two working up a scorp spawn in Khaldun with little to no issue, only to be flayed alive in the first 2 minutes by matriarch + dread spider spam.

My honor isn’t that high, perhaps it gave me 30 sec of immunity. Yeah, I can work honor up higher. But I need a way to do this so that I don’t need to rely on honor as a crutch. Hopefully honor isn't the only way...

So I’m hoping for advice. From memory, here is my sampire...

    Human Female

Head: Spirit of Totem (I want Mace and Shield or might use imbued Daimyu instead)
Neck: Runic - Not great, but does the job for now
Chest: Runic - Not great, but does the job for now
Arms: Runic - Not great, but does the job for now
    Legs: Fey leggings
Hands: Stormgrip (But might change for imbued pugilist gloves)
    Back: Rangers' Aug cloak
Rings: Imbued, not great, will improve
Talisman: Vermin, Primer of Arms, or Conjurer's Trinket
    Waist: Crimson Cincture

Str/hp (around 120 but planning to get it to 130-140)
Stamina (around 132 but planning to get it to 150+ or 180+)
Mana (not great, around 33 but planning on much more)

She ate a +15 stat scroll, no other stat scrolls available on our server for a long time

    70 / 70 / 70 / 56 / 65 resists while in vamp form.

She’s in random drops I pieced together here, so when I finally make her a suit this will be better. My thoughts here are that this isn’t too bad, because while in vampire form low lvl poisons will be negated anyway. The only time when the low poison resist is an issue, would be against poison attack monsters or monsters with deadly poison (Miasma, TB silver serpents.. etc).

    Mace: 101 (going to 120)
    Tactics: 95 (going to 100)
    Anat: 100
    Healing: 86 (going to 90)
    Necro: 99
    Bushido: 105 (going to 120)
    Chivalry: 71

DCI 45, HCI 36 (will be better when I get better jewels, but good enough for now imo?)

    My current weapons are:

    Weapon 1: Pixie Swatter

-I swing this weapon at 1.75 delay but only intend to use it on stuff at lvl 1 Barracoon since the slimes will wreck my imbued weapons.

Weapon 2: AOE weap for spawns (Black staff for Whirlwind/Para)

    -44 Hit Cold
    -20 SSI (I swing at 1.25 cap)
    -Mana Leech
-Life Leech (Did not know life leech sucked at the time I imbued it, will replace)

Weapon 3: Weapon for bosses (Leafblade for Feint/AI)

    -UBWS, cause I’m a macer
-HLD (Would replace this with HLA and get Mace and Shield if possible)
    -Mana Leech
-SSI 20 (Swing at 1.25 cap)

***I intend to tweak my weaps a bit. On the Black Staff, I'd probably change HLL to either HSL, a Slayer, or HLA. On the Leafblade, I'd change HLD to HLA. I don't yet have problems with stamina so I haven't yet thought too much about HSL.

***As an alternative to macing, I can go Fencing, use the serpent's fang for 100% Poison AOE on spawns like slimes. I can then change my primary to a non-UBWS leafblade and have HSL, HML, HLA, DI, SSI - or a slayer if I can figure that one out. And then my whirlwind weapon would end up being UBWS.

I do not have any problems with Mana or Stamina currently. My problem is running out of hit points and then dying to casting mobs.

Is the only thing standing between me and better success the raising of my currently low skills?

Do I need to change my approach any?

Should a resist-less sampire be able to defeat any type of casting spawn?

Given this equipment and configuration, what should I be able to do safely now? What about when I raise my skills to the listed max?

I die here and there to third level spawn at some of the champs. I'd have a look at getting a better whirlwind weapon that has max hit area, stam and mana leech. Do you have a imbuer?

Your low weapon skill is a issue I'd also bet. Missing what your killing is equal to death.

Whirlwind weapon for spawn should have:

    Mana leech
    Stamina leech
    Health leech
    Dmg inc

For barracoon spawn you can replace the Slayer with hit area if you have the tally, same with undead. If you don't have imbuer, get a friend with imbuer to make you these weps.

Best wepclass is swordmanship, using radiant scimitar so you can use healing pots, and no need for SSI. And if worried about breaking imbued stuff to slimes, use Blaze of Death for first level.

I also squeezed 74 resisting spells with items and over 90 mana on my sampire, so one mana vampire doesnt suck me dry but I can make another whirlwind which gives me full mana back cause of mana leech. I also use evasion when I'm storming to middle of craploads of casters. And armored swampy ofc.

    My temp with items:
    120 swords
    120 bush
    120 parrying
    100 tact
    100 anat
    99 necro
    74 resist
    60 chiv

Edit: and yes, I can solo any other spawn then Neira, neira spawn is easy but can't solo the boss without changing chars.

You need resist. My spawning Sammy has 120, I can solo all the spawns but Oaks ( I have yet to give the Primevil Lich a seious shot, alwys peeps there, it seems)

In fact Semidar is my favorite, as most people aviod it and she can drop the Gladiators collar and the Lt Guard Sash. :)

Edit: I decided it might be good to tell you why you are dying with no resist. With no resist, even the lowest magic casters can Para you, Mana Drain, and Mana Vamp you, not to mention Curse hurts a lot.

Now I know you can trapped box it, I have a Sammy that does this, but he is only really for big one-on-one stuff. Curse, you can survive, pots and remove Curse. What will get you killed in a heartbeat is the Mana Drain/Vamp. No mana, even for a second (if it is the wrong second) = no specials, and you are dead FAST. And actually a whole screen of Imps spamming Para will also kill you FAST.

There is a post a few pages back, about my spawning Sammy's build. The skills are still the same. I changed my armor some, but who hasn't.

For spawns, I run without Healing and Anatomy (too slow). Use those points to go 120 (if possible) in resist, and take tactics up, (again 120 if possible.)

    Not for chiv surely?
  8. The only time you should be running Protection is when you're in wraith form. Outside of that, it really doesn't help a whole lot. It doesn't hurt, but it doesn't help either.

Protection would hurt a lot here. It's going to reduce his physical resist (-15?) and magic resist (-35). Is an effective magic resist of 43 more worthwhile than investing those points elsewhere?
  10. Physical resist can be accomodated for on the suit. The reduction in magic resist doesn't do much if you don't have resist in the first place. A trapped box and a few apples are all you need unless you're going up against Necro casters, but even then, it's still effective enough.

What is your strat for dealing with casting spawns?

Not necessarily undead, but all the mage spawns... rat mages, matriarch/dread spider, dragons, imp, etc.

(I know you stone anat and put on 100 resist for undead spawns to help with blood oath, but is that your strategy on ALL casting spawns?)

  12. I work from the edges in, pulling only 2 or 3 at a time. This way I make sure I don't get in trouble. If I happen to get locked on by more than that, I can always retreat, as I'm at the edge and always make sure I keep my exit cleared of all spawn. As you thin it out work your way in, remembering to backtrack to keep a clear path of retreat behind you. I usually try to work my way to the altar, then work in a large circle from there.

Tactics wise that's what I'm doing, but I'd like you to take a look at my spec/equipment/etc and tell me if there are changes you would make...

  14. Looks to me like you just need to get your skills up higher. Once you do that I think you'll find the spawns much easier.
