    I just recently saw this is the current goal for site donations. I want to give you folks a quick heads up on upgrading.

    Please note that once you make the switch...you are going to have to spend a considerable amount of time redirecting through 301s. This is the reason I have not upgraded my own sites. There is no easy way to redirect every link that heads to old http:// urls to the new https:// urls.

    I understand that Google has stated that this will help add to a sites ranking, but I know I am waiting to make the change until an easy way to conduct the 301s is instituted...la

    Actually, it's not *that* hard if you are running on an apache webserver. Just add this to .htaccess in the top level of your website directory

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
    RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}
