I have recently returned to the game after 3 years away, I downloaded the enhanced beta client and I feel that the graphics are a little choppy, I can't run for more than a few feet without stopping for a second for the graphics, is there a way to switch back to the classic UO without re-downloading and re-patching?

if you install super mario, could you switch to UO? no, because are 2 different games. Same here, the 2 clients are 2 different games...

I downloaded both and use the classic client for things like the moving crate where I can't see anything in the chests, but I can in classic client. You can have both, you just need to download the classic client now from the mythic pages.

to switch you'd need to download and install the other client.
But first you could try a few things to optimize the EC client you have.
If you're playing windowed, try turning off the window frame
Try turning particle effects to low, reduce the time chat stays visible, etc.
