Please post your tamer templates. I am trying to decide what to do with my tamer. My tamer is only PvM no pvping at all with this char.
  2. Mine is pretty simple, and relatively cheap. It works fine most of the time.

    Taming 110 (107.5 atm)
    Lore 110
    Vet 110
    Magery 110
    Eval 110
    Med 110
    Chivalry 55

Granted, I currently have Lore and Vet at 115, because, hey, I'm PSed up to that anyway. Also, they raise quickly. And they do more for me than, say, 60+ chiv. I might just keep Chiv lower and having Taming and Lore at 115, or if i ever bother, Taming 110/Lore 120.

As long as you're PSed up, 110 taming/lore is plenty. That gives 99% control with everything except Fire Steeds and Dread Warhorses, and all it takes is the Bird Talisman to make those 99% as well. Actually taming critters works best if you have Taming PSed up to 120 (or in my cheap-ass case, 115), which is easily achieved by switching out a bracelet when doing so. Switching bracelets/rings can also give you the extra stable slots, though that can be a pain (and requires you to have 120 PSs in those skills... expensive, again).

Chivalry is there, almost exclusively (i don't use it for anything else) to remove curses and Mortal Strike from your pets. This makes Miasma even more of a breeze, and helps when Crimson Brain Rots you.

If you don't mind the expense and rely on EVs when pets aren't around, Magery 120/med 100 would probably work fine.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking about add chiv to the template but thinking about going 105 for a quick area spell with holy light. Right not my tamer is at a 4/5 just looking for the right ring to make it 4/6.

I am thinking about going with this template after items.

    110 taming
    115 Lore
    100 Vet
    115 Magery
    115 eval
    105 chiv
    60 med

I am not that much worried about the med because I have lots of MR and and I am maxed out on LMC.
  4. I run:

    Taming 115
    Lore 110
    Magery 105
    Vet 100
    Eval 100
    Med 100
    Resist 100

The resist is a hold over from the old days. I have never stoned it, because I can't really think of anything else that would serve me any better, as I do PvP once in a while.

What would be a good substitute to use when not PvP'ing?

I considered Chiv, but I am Dread, so the cost on that might be high. I cannot see a need for Necro, but I am sort of interested in Spell Weaving. Is there a real upside for that over Resist?

I have two tamers pretty that pretty much run the mage/tamer template, but with spellweaving instead of resists. I pretty much use magery to heal pets if what I fight have area effect spellcasting abilities, so normally I don't get targetted that much so resist wasn't doing that much for me.

The only downside is on some shards it might be hard to find enough people to get a level 4,5 or 6 focus, but other than that it works pretty good. Cast gift of renewal on yourself or pet and it will heal thru poison and mortal, gift of life on pet and you can rez it without bandies at the spot it died, essence of wind can wipe out a large area of small level spawn, and then WOD with a level 5 focus will start hitting for 300-600+ damage (depends on the amount of SDI, is arcane empowerment in effect, is caster in reaper form, and did you eat a grape of wrath) when whatever your fighting is around 35% (might be 40%) health or less. Works pretty good for spawns, peerless, doom, and anything else that rewards the top damage dealers something special.

    These are my favourite tamers:

    Stealth herder:
120 tame, lore and vet, 100 herding (soulstone holds eval but I rarely use it), 100 hiding, 85 magery, 75 stealth

Just dropped her magery down so I could get my stealth fixed up from 60 and not have to rely on certain suit pieces to get by.

Tame, lore, vet, mage, music, disco and provo.

I'm going more for bard with taming than a tamer who bards, so my skills will eventually be more in the bard side of things. She never uses anything more than 2 kitsune these days, so I doubt I'll take taming over GM with this girl.

Taming, lore, vet, spellweaving, necromancy, spirit speak, meditation

Still finding my feet with this girl as I've only recently soulstoned the skills onto her, but loving it so far.

    Mine is a Bard/Mage/tamer

    60ish magery
110 disco (wearing jewels to go 120)
110 peace or provo (wearing jewels to go 120)
115 music (wearing jewels AND Library Tali to go 120)
    120 taming
    110 lore
    107 vet

Works super well solo hunting big game like Para Balrons and Greaters. Not too well in Doom with DF's tho. haven't worked out the kinks on that one ... yet.

    Here's Fallon's template:

    Fallon Valor (Elf)

    120.0 Taming
    120.0 Animal Lore
    120.0 Vet
    100.0 Magery
    100.0 Meditation
    100.0 Lock pickin
100.0 Cartography (on soulstone; I decipher maps in bulk)
    50.0 Eval

    Str 110
    Int 115
    Dex 30

Easy to solo lvl 6 t-maps with this guy and his greater. Plus, t-maps aside, he's a good, solid mage/tamer. I use him on champs, peerless, etc.

    Tamer 1 is:

    Lore 120
    Tame 120
    Vet 120
    Magery 120
    Med 120
    Eval 120

With 120 Peace, Music, Disco, Resist and Spellweaving on stones. I move things around a bit on her lol, and she is my most used tamer for both PvM and the VERY occassional PvP.

Tamer 2 is built the same way, but only has 120 Disco, Music and Peace on stones. I am currently running her as a bard tamer, with eval and med stoned and disco on. I have been running her with a 7X GM Dread and a 7X GM mare, and they absolutely shred things. I've enjoyed her so much that for the time being the eval/med will stay off of her. FWIW.

I have 3 so bear with me here

    #1 The Fallen Paladin
    110 lore(120)
    105 taming (120)
    100 vet(110)
    100 fencing(100)
    100 tactic(100)
    70 bushido(70)
    65 chivalrey(95)
    52 necro(99)
    9 magery(74)

I use alot of items to do alot of different things but mostly I run vamp form and hold off on the magery and chive items. I use the magery items just to gate and invisi. The chive items for resing players. The bushido isnt high enough to lightning strike 100% but when a rit goes off with a slayer wep im hitting over 150 in one swing. That and a good pet combo This char out damages anything PvM or PvP. The vamp form is plenty of MR/STMR with a good ML weapon. Some times I even have my pet in follow mode then whack at it with a slayer with ML for free mana and health!

    #2 The Tamers Tamer
    85 taming (110)
    110 lore(110)
    100 vet(100)
    100 magery(100)
    100 eval(100)
    105 discord(120)<--swaps(ss) for peace"tamers tamer"
    120 music(120)

This is the tamers tamer. He tames anything no problem and trains any thing worth keeping with ease.

    #3 Pure Migic
    120 tame
    120 lore
    120 vet
    120 mage
    120 eval
    120 med

This guy focuses on high end damage with caped fc/fcr and is alot of fun. I tend to use him as a stable since my fallen paladin still out damages him by far. He is alot easier to use though. With a High MR suit this guy does all the mel runs i do as a tamer. Ive been thinking of dropping all the 120 but eval and adding in more skill items for maybe fitting in necro/spirit or spell weaving. I like the stable slots though.

    My main tamer:

    100 Taming (+5 from talisman)
    105 Lore (+5 from talisman)
    120 Spellweaving
    90 Magery (+30 from items)
    120 Eval
    100 Resist
    85 Meditation

This is by far my favorite character to hunt with. I've got a high-end suit to make up for the low meditation. High-end pets (focus on durability) combined with Spellweaving (gift of life) make up for the lack of vetting.

    100 vet
    110 magery
    100 meditation
    100 spellweaving
    60 hiding
    30 points in misc skills

    Tamer #2
110 necromancy, spirit speak, magery, EI
    100 meditaion
    90 taming/lore

Hunts exclusively with a pair of bake kitsune. This is a brilliant template for peerless and very good for spawning if you spawn with a tamer who has vet skill, as ressurecting your pets is problematic at the best of times.

I'm thinking about dropping a lot of meditation for vet.

i have fun with my tamer in pvm, haven't tried him in pvp but looks as others use this temp:

    120 - archery
    120 - bush
    115 - taming
    115 - vet
    110 - lore
    110 - tact
    100 - chiv

very very fun char to play, my first tamer so kinda sux with em but i enjoy it :)

    110 taming
    110 lore
    80 vet
110 magery (105 real + crystalline + staff of power)
    105 necro
    120 spirit speak
    90 med

i run around in wraith when i'm withering or lich when i need to heal the greater drag, which i'm almost always using.
  17. First character I started was a tamer and it has been fun working him. He still has a way to go but currently he is at
    Taming 115 jewels (101.4 real) goal 120
    Vet 120
Lore 110 goal 110 need to find 120 scroll
mage 110 May go 120 magery too not sure
    med 100
    Eval Int 100

Still work in progress I use my 2 Bake kitsunes, cu and GD mainly and I am PvM. Last few weeks I have been using the bakes more than usually as I found they worked better for the crimson dragons .. died less and do as much damage as my cu. I tend to die more as I have to vet them in order to be successful

If someone sees me on Origin say hello
