Any news from the weekends Town Hall???
I won a big dragon!
You were lucky... I didn't win anything. :|
Maybe I should make a post here and try to get Grimm's attention rather than PM Jeremy like Draconi said to get an answer for my question... I always feel bad asking her to pass messages on.
And I forgot to thank Mesanna for bein a cool dev person (a friend of mine had help from her in the past). :[
Congrats on winning the Big Dragon.
Any useful information about what's to come in UO?
I'd rather not repost stuff stated on other forums, so i'll give a link to a topic that should answer everything for you, or at least just about everything:
"We can't talk about that right now"
*Plays music OVER parts of question and answer*
duh dee doo dee dumm dee dahhhh
I should say that the "love for thieves" question was solidly answered by Draconi with a jokingly placed "We love you." followed by moving on to the next question, since the link I gave said there wasn't an answer.
Actually.. let me see if I can provide the rest of some of those questions and answers that got garbled or drowned out...
That was the MOST annoying aspect and REALLY did not reflect well on WRR IMO.
"What is the frequency of the [garbled, may have been "event spawn".]" was indeed event spawn.
"Any chance of earning .... gardening .....[garbled]" was something along the lines of "Any chance of something being thrown in for the gardening types?" Unfortunately, this question came directly after a "What happened to the cocoa trees?" question (which recieved the answer that they would be coming within the next publish or two), so the answer wasn't very informative, aside from the "elves not required" bit.
"What's going on with tenth anniversary rewards/presents. Also what about a jewelry book like BOD book? [There was quite an interruption with music here and couldn't hear most of the answer. All I got was that we might get jewelry boxes, but they aren't promising anything.]"
10th and 11th year rewards ARE coming, and while they WANT to do jewelry boxes there still aren't solid plans, but there IS someone actively working on them now.
"Can we get more stable spots? Probably the most commonly asked question. [Some comments from the devs about how many stable slots various critters take up, e.g., 5 for dragons, 3 for golems....] There is no way that there can be more than 5 control slots the way things are set up now. They didn't really answer the question about adding stable slots. Draconi mumbled something about balance and more power for tamers, but nothing that made any kind of sense."
Pretty sure he said something about the balance of power, followed by "but yes, we are working on more stable slots.", which was followed up by a question from the crowd on wether he meant stable or control slots and that it was indeed stable, and there would be no control slot increase.
Sadly, I don't remember catching the one question that's pretty much completely gone there myself at the actual event ([Question about crafters that was overridden by music.] The focus group................[covered up by music again]......... They are coming up with a master plan .....). So yeah, don't blame WRR entirely for that, it was apparently something easy to miss.
Got a picture of it?
A clean recording made at the actuall town hall will be available soon.
As opposed to the "We can't talk about that" Town Hall?
Technically you could blame the players asking the questions as much as the devs for that.. could very well be our fault for asking stuff they aren't at liberty to discuss.
Plus, that "whatever happened to the volunteers?" question was answered from the crowd before Drac's on-mic answer with "duh? lawsuits?". Quite a few of them were that repetetive, really (including mine, but I had to ask anyway ), or had already blatantly obvious answers.
Yes, I don't actually see the purpose of Town Halls, as information gathering and brainstorming sessions, when "We can't talk about that" is the predominant answer.
Perhaps, in the future, just call them "get-togethers", or "RL Meetups" since there are seldom any *real* answers coming out of them.
Yeah, that one and the double question regarding two items that were IN PUB 52 (commas in checks and one other thing).
Let's just say that myself and the people I was listening and discussing with were banging our heads on the desk at that one.
Hello! Publish Notes... read them!
Honestly, I think I really did bang my head on the table for a few of them, and it was hard to keep from calling anyone stupid for some of them too... which really says a lot, because i'm really quite the opposite of how I am on the forums in person.
I'll just say that for the good of everyone involved I'm glad I wasn't there.
Y'know, I actually took about an extra minute before I could ask my question, because I felt bad about interrupting anyone else and people kept talking. ^^;
Mine was the one about the stuff sitting in the client that's still unused after years and years.
In defense of the people asking the questions, that were answered in the publish notes, you have to realize quite a lot of players quit going to "The Herald" long ago, because it was either not updated, or unnavigable. They relied on stratics and UHall, which has been down for a bit now, and so they are behind on information.
Yeah, but there are people with questions like that at EVERY townhall.. some people just don't keep up on any info outside of what they hear in game.. at all. Or they have incredibly short memory spans.
There will be new turn ins for the existing tickets in the next publish including a dex suit and a mage suit. The Knight suit is not meddable. You will also be able to turn in more items, and continue to turn in the existing ones.
Draconi also said that there would be a new and creative way for reds to work off counts. Also that there would not only be new weapons but new classes of weapons.
