Please forgive me if I'm missing the obvious. I placed a house with one character on my account and would like a newly started character to be the primary owner, so I can delete the other one. Is there a simple way to do this?

All characters of the same account are the primary house owner. When you delete a character and make a new one they will be automaticly house owner too.

As Frarc mentioned all your characters are the primary owner of your house. Deleting the one who placed it will not cause the house to fall or anything like that. However, that deleted characters name will still show on the house sign as the owner.

If your wanting another chars name to show as the owner of the house then the only way I know of doing that is to transfer the house to another account (make sure the other account doesn't have a house already or it will start to decay), and then transfer the house back to the char you want listed as the owner. You can always name the house with your chars name, so that it will read something like house owner: Wild Bill, and under that you can have the house named House of Adora. When you mark a rune from inside of the house it will have the name of the house on the rune, so in this case it would be House of Adora.

As mentioned above, every char on that account is the owner of that house and the person who placed or took control of the house will be listed as the "owner" of the house on the sign no matter what happens to that char (ie deleted or transferred to another shard).
