This was the weekend when it was determined which teams from the qualifying pool that would go on to partake in the group stages.
As the qualifier rounds are point based (like almost everything else in the tourney) it is those teams that has the highest score that will move on to the group stages. As a result of the fights on ATX day 1 and 2, the fights of the ATX on day 3 and 4 where focused on getting enough points to move on to a top 32 spot in the pool of teams out of 64 teams.

Some teams could do this by winning with fewer points than the intended fielding (such was the tctic from the first teams). Due to the nature of the tournament rules (Unused points will be added to the opponents score), having fielded less than 50 points against an opponent that has fielded the full 50 points means that by winning with less than those 50 points , your points will be inflated and count for more. Since this only applies when you win though, intentionally crippling can be quite risky. Perhaps those teams could have won had they fielded the full 50 points. Who knows…
Slots 17 to 48 all display teams that had just one victory but were losing with the least points meant they would either qualify or not. One interesting fight to see is the TEST match, where the losing team (fielding 50 points) offers to allow the TEST team (fielding 48 points) to blow up their hero survivor, a Keres for another 5 points at the price of 2 billion ISK. At a point where the teams are fighting fiercely over points, this actually placed TEST in the group stages.
Scores below:
Anywho, the group stages are up next with the leading 32 teams from the qualifiers being randomly matched up. 64 teams were fielded in the qualifying rounds, and the intention was to cut down that to 32 teams and split that into 8 groups with 4 teams in each group.
That means each team will face 3 opponents from the same group. So the next 3 matches are basically composed of 1 team fighting the other 3 in the group. So day 5, 6 and 7 are the first days of group stage matches.
Best of luck to all partaking teams, and thanks for the good show for the exiting teams!
