Rose the Gardener shy greeting was meet by a chorus of hellos and hi’s.
“Guys, Lady Harriet said if I ever needed you guys…well I need you.”
Rose the Gardener frowned. “I have done a terrible thing.”
“Yahoo! weeding time,” Cosumus shouted.
Sphinkter assured Rose, “It’s ok, we will kill it.”
“Sure we’ll help you,” Moogle added.
I smiled at how sure they were that something needed to be killed.
“It is the end of Summer.” Rose began to explain
“I had just done harvesting the seeds and putting them in my box in order of type and color.” Rose frowned. “Each season several pixies come and I donate seeds for their areas.”
I smiled at her, “That is sweet of you.”
“So what went wrong?” Moogle asked.
“Some live in Tokuno and some in Ilshenar and the ones in Malas have to be specially grown because of the treefellows there. Rose told us. “Anyway a new pixie, I hadn’t met her, she took the Ilshenar seeds.
Rose sobbed. “Who wouldn’t trust a pixie for goodness sake.”
“Oh no, ” I cried. “Did she steal them?”
“Well, Ariel came later that day. Rose the Gardener frowned again. “Ariel is the one who always comes for the Ilshenar seeds. I KNEW It but I trusted this pixie. I should have known.”
“And she didn’t giggle, they always giggle.” Rose sighed.
“An imposter??” Vixen Sonoma asked.
“The thing is she came back and cast paralyze on me.” Rose pouted, “I have no magic resists. I am a gardener for goodness sake.”
“That is no normal pixie,” I said.
Rose nodded. “It seemed to last forever. She told me that she wants to harness the power of the sun and that summers will never be the same. Rose shivered as she remembered, “Then she grew dark…like LITERALLY darker.”
“Darn, what is with people trying to harness the sun,” I muttered remembering the Titans.
Rose shook her head. “I don’t know Tamais, but I am afraid.”
“So what do you want us to do?” Moogle questioned.
“I can show you where she went but I am too afraid to go with you. ” Rose told us. “I did visit with the local healers and one volunteered.
As always, I was amazed at the bravery of our healers. “Don’t worry,” I assured Rose. “We will take care of her and save the seeds.”
“Show us. “Moogle told her.
Cosumus nodded. “Ok show us.”
“I am so sorry everyone, “Rose shivered again. “But it can’t be me. I am so scared.
“No, you stay back and be safe,” I told her. “Let us take care of things.”
“Lady Harriet is away with a sick family member,” Rose explained looking ready to cry. “And I am too scared and weak to help.”
“Unless we can get this Pixie,” Rose said urgently. “Can someone gate us to a moongate. We must get to Spirituality right away.
Gathering our forces at the Spirituality gate. We followed Rose “Please follow closely, I am unfamiliar with this.”
Arriving at the old forge, Rose pointed to a strange hole. “This hole…this hole is where she went. Ariel had said this wasn’t here before…this passage.”
Going through the passage. We arrived at Reg Volom. To our surprise instead of being greeted by Ethereals we found strange creatures, both of darkness and sun.
Seeing her minons of light and dark defeated, The Evil Pixie Queen joined the battle.
With the defeat of the Evil Queen we were able to retrieve the seeds she had stolen. We returned to the hall to find a hopeful Rose the Gardener waiting for us. Her face light up in joy when I handed her the seeds. In thanks she gave us the last summer rose.
